Pete Waterman Entertainment (PWE) is the production company one-time pop and dance record label owned by British pop mogul Pete Waterman. The label, originally PWL (Pete Waterman Limited), is most famous for being the home of hit record producers Stock Aitken Waterman. Lonnie Gordon (born November 8, 1965, Philadelphia) is an American female dance, pop and Contemporary R&B, R&B singer and songwriter. She scored several record chart, chart hit record, hits during the 1990s, most notably for her 1990 United Kingdom, UK top 10 single ''Happenin' All Over Again''. Early life and career Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Gordon moved to the Bronx at an early age. In the early 1980s, she started performing around the Harlem area in clubs as the lead singer of a band called Nythjar. After meeting her husband, she relocated to England in the late 1980s, and retired from the music scene to take care of her daughter Rikki. Mel and Kim (stylized as MӗL & KIM) were an English pop duo, consisting of sisters Melanie and Kim Appleby. Originally managed by Alan Whitehead, they achieved success between 1986 and 1988, before Melanie died of cancer in January 1990 at the age of 23. The duo reached number one in the UK Singles Chart with their 1987 single " Respectable", which also topped the US dance chart. Desiree Heslop, best known as Princess, is a British singer who found chart success in the mid-1980s. In the early 1980s, she worked with the group Osibisa. She is best known for her hit single "Say I'm Your Number One" which made the UK Top Ten in 1985. Career Before going solo, she was a backing vocalist for the band Osibisa in the early 1980s. She recorded sessions on the Brilliant album ''Kiss The Lips of Life'', which brought her to the attention of producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman (SAW). Her debut solo album ''Princess'' (1986) was composed and produced by SAW which contained the hit single, "Say I'm Your Number One". Showing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend)
"Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)" is the debut single released by sister duo Mel and Kim in 1986. The single's B-side, "System", was originally intended to be the duo's debut release, but after getting to know the sisters, Pete Waterman felt that the song was too soft for their personalities, and halted the single's pressing. Mike Stock then wrote "Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)" for the duo, influenced by the Chicago garage house sound. "It became very clear that the tracks were being written around us, for us, and they were feeding off us," Kim Appleby said of the creative process with Stock Aitken Waterman after "System" was replaced by "Showing Out".
