Supreme Court Bar Association Of Pakistan
The Supreme Court Bar Association ( ur, )(SCBAP) is an association established in 1989 comprising the supreme court lawyers in Pakistan. The Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act 1973 provides for the forming, recognition and functioning of Bar Associations for supreme court lawyers working under the control of Pakistan Bar Council. It is an independent Bar association whose aim is to uphold the rule of law and the cause of justice and protect and promote the interest of the legal profession as well as that of the public. The Rules of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, 1989 provide the detailed provisions for elections, meetings, its committees, disciplinary proceedings, powers and functions of the executive committee of the Bar Association etc. The SCBAP has 22 members, who are elected annually to manage the affairs and execute the functions of the SCBAP. Pakistan Bar Council
The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) ( ur, ) was established by the Parliament in 1973 under the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act. It is the highest elected body of lawyers in Pakistan. It has twenty two members elected from across the country representing each province. The members of the Pakistan Bar Council are elected on the basis of a single transferable vote by the members of the Provincial Bar Councils (i.e., Punjab Bar Council, Sindh Bar Council, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, Balochistan Bar Council and Islamabad Bar Council). Malik Mohammad Qayyum
Malik Mohammad Qayyum ( ur, ; born 18 January 1944), Senior Advocate Supreme Court, is the former Attorney General of Pakistan, who was replaced with Senator Latif Khosa when President Pervez Musharraf resigned on 18 August 2008. He became Attorney General following the resignation of Makhdoom Ali Khan. He is a former Judge of the Lahore High Court, which he resigned from after a phone transcript of his was released in which he was alleged to be approached by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's government to fix judgement in a case before him involving Benazir Bhutto. Qayyum denied that the voice in the telephone conversation was his. Lahore High Court Bar Association
The Lahore High Court Bar Association ( ur, ) is situated in Lahore. Lahore Bar (presently Lahore High Court Bar) as a collective group took birth somewhere before 1892-93 and its first President was elected in 1893. In 1910 the Executive Committee recommended that the Bar Association should be registered accordingly. The General House on 9 June 1910, accepted the recommendations and registered it as Bar Association. Punjab Bar Council
The Punjab Bar Council ( ur, ) is a deliberative assembly of lawyers in Punjab. It is established by Parliament of Pakistan and consists of 75 members elected from different constituencies of Punjab. Its main functions are to promote and suggest law reforms, to safeguard the rights, interests and privileges of practicing lawyers while regulating their conduct, to recognize or derecognize Bar associations and to help in the administration of justice. Latif Afridi
Abdul Latif Afridi (Pashto/ ur, ), also known as Latif Lala (), is a lawyer and Pashtun nationalist politician who was formerly the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan. He is a senior leader of the National Democratic Movement (NDM). He was a member of the National Assembly between 1997 and 1999, the first provincial president of the Awami National Party (ANP) between 1986 and 1989, and the General Secretary of ANP between 2005 and 2007. Asma Jilani Jahangir ( ur, , ''ʿĀṣimah Jahāṉgīr''; 27 January 1952 – 11 February 2018) was a Pakistani human rights lawyer and social activist who co-founded and chaired the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. Qazi Anwar or Qazi Muhammad Anwar ( ur, ) is a former attorney general, constitutional lawyer, president of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) and former senator.
