Superliga Brasileira De Voleibol
The Brazilian Volleyball Super League () is the top level Brazilian professional volleyball competition. It is organized by the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation. It shares the same name with the women's tournament, and are disputed simultaneously. The number of participating clubs varies every year. The champion team qualifies for the South American Championship. Vôlei Natal, who play at the 10,000-capacity Ginásio Nélio Dias, are the current champions. History First competitions Until the early 1960s, there were only state volleyball competitions in Brazil. A national level competition was inconceivable because of the geographical distances and lack of transportation infrastructure. Confederación Sudamericana De Voleibol
The Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV) ( Portuguese: ) is the continental governing body for the sports of volleyball in South America. Its headquarters is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Profile The CSV's origins are still under dispute. Some argue it was founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 12, 1946; some, that it was founded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 3 of the same year. Either way, it was formed even before the FIVB itself, and stands as the oldest of all volleyball continental confederations. Up to now (2004), the CSV has had a total of eight presidents, all but one from national federations with some volleyball tradition at a certain point in history: Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Venezuela and Colombia, which is the exception. Club Athletico Paulistano –generally known as just Paulistano– is a sports and social club from the Brazilian metropolis São Paulo located in the quarter of Jardim América, close to the city. The club was founded on 29 December 1900 for the purpose of playing association football. Its team was one of the early pioneers of the sport in Brazil and was considered the nationally leading side around 1920. To date, Paulistano remains the only club that won the São Paulo state championship four consecutive times. Floripa Esporte Clube, also known as Super Imperatriz Vôlei, was a men's volleyball team, based in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. They won the Superliga Brasileira de Voleibol in 2005–06, 2007–08 and in 2008–09, and won the South American Championship in 2009. They played at Arena Jaraguá. Canoas Sport Club, usually known as Canoas, is a Brazilian football club from Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul, founded by the Lutheran University of Brazil (in Portuguese, Universidade Luterana do Brasil - ULBRA). The club is also active in futsal. The club was originally named Sport Club Ulbra and then Universidade Sport Club. History On January 26, 1998, the club was founded by the Lutheran University of Brazil as Sport Club Ulbra. The club started with volleyball, futsal, handball, and athletics sections. Minas Tênis Clube (short, just ''Minas'') is a social, recreational and sports club from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. By 2013, it has more than 73,000 members.
