Sunshower (Thelma Houston Album)
''Sunshower'' is the debut album of Thelma Houston, released in 1969 on Dunhill Records. It was produced by Jimmy Webb and charted at number 50 on the Billboard R&B chart. Prior to signing at Dunhill Records, Houston had recorded three singles, in 1967 at Capitol Records, as lead vocalist of the group called ''The Art Reynolds Singers''. None of these singles made any mark on the singles charts. This album produced four singles: "Everybody Gets to Go to the Moon", "Sunshower", "If This Was the Last Song" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash". Houston recorded several other tracks while signed to Dunhill. These were issued on an expanded CD re-issue of ''Sunshower'' in 2010 by the Soulmusic.com label. Thelma Houston ( Jackson; born May 7, 1946) Retrieved . is an American singer. Beginning her recording career in the late 1960s, Houston scored a number-one hit record in 1977 with her recording of "Don't Leave Me This Way", which won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Biography Early life and career Houston was born in Leland, Mississippi. Her mother was a cotton picker. She and her three sisters grew up primarily in Long Beach, California. After marrying and having two children, she joined the Art Reynolds Singers gospel group and was subsequently signed as a recording artist with Dunhill Records. Career Patrice Yvonne Holloway was born on March 23, 1951 in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of three children born to Wade Holloway, Sr. (August 13, 1920 – June 24, 2001) and his wife, the former Johnnie Mae Fossett. Sherlie Matthews (born November 10, 1934) is an American singer, songwriter and former Motown Records producer, best known as a backing vocalist for pop, R&B and rock groups from the mid-1960s to the present time. Fred Tackett (born August 30, 1945) is an American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Originally a session player on guitar, mandolin, and trumpet, he is best known as a member of the band Little Feat. In addition to his work with Little Feat, Tackett has played and recorded with many notable artists, Bob Dylan and Jimmy Webb among them. He had an additional side project with another member of Little Feat; he performed as part of a duo with Paul Barrere, as Paul and Fred. Hal Blaine (born Harold Simon Belsky; February 5, 1929 – March 11, 2019) was an American drummer and session musician, thought to be among the most recorded studio drummers in the music industry, claiming over 35,000 sessions and 6,000 singles.
