Sunny Ridge
Sunny Ridge () is a partly snow-free ridge that trends southward for 1 nautical mile (1.9 km) from the western extremity of Mount Weaver. It stands at the west side of and near the head of Scott Glacier (Transantarctic Mountains), Scott Glacier. The ridge was scaled by the Ohio State University geological party in November 1962. Mount Weaver
The Rawson Mountains lie within the Queen Maud Mountains to the southeast of the Ross Ice Shelf. They stand between the head of the Amundsen and Scott Glaciers. Peaks within the range include Mount Wyatt (2930 m) and Mount Weaver (2780 m). Scott Glacier (Transantarctic Mountains)
The Scott Glacier is a major glacier, long, that drains the East Antarctic Ice Sheet through the Queen Maud Mountains to the Ross Ice Shelf. The Scott Glacier is one of a series of major glaciers flowing across the Transantarctic Mountains, with the Amundsen Glacier to the west and the Leverett and Reedy glaciers to the east. Geography The Scott Glacier originates on the Antarctic Plateau in the vicinity of D'Angelo Bluff and Mount Howe, and descends between the Nilsen Plateau and the mountains of the Watson Escarpment to enter Ross Ice Shelf just west of the Tapley Mountains. The Tapley Mountains, Watson Escarpment, Mount Blackburn, and the La Gorce Mountains bound the Scott Glacier on its eastern margin, while the Karo Hills, Hays Mountains, Faulkner Escarpment, and Rawson Mountains define the western edge of the Scott's drainage. George Doumani
George Alexander Doumani (born April 26, 1929, deceased March 16, 2021 in Akko, British Mandate of Palestine) is a Lebanese Palestinian geologist and explorer. He joined Terra Sancta College in Jerusalem and awarded the Palestinian matric in 1948, during the 1948 Palestinian exodus he left with his family to Bkassine village in Lebanon. He went to Saudi Arabia in 1949 and worked in oil field. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley. He contributed to the International Geophysical Year in 1958 in Antarctica. He made other trips to the southern continent in the early 1960s. His findings helped prove the continental drift theory. A ridge or a mountain ridge is a geographical feature consisting of a chain of mountains or hills that form a continuous elevated crest for an extended distance.
