Sundsvall () is a city and the seat of Sundsvall Municipality in Västernorrland County, Sweden. It has a population of 58,807 as of 2020; more than 95,000 live in the municipal area. The Ådalen Line ( sv, Ådalsbanan) is a railway line between Sundsvall and Långsele in Sweden. At Sundsvall, the line intersects with the Central Line and the East Coast Line. At Långsele, the line intersects with the Main Line Through Upper Norrland. It also connects to the Bothnia Line. The Ådalen Line follows, and is named for, the Ådalen river valley. Central Line (Sweden)
The Central Line ( sv, Mittbanan) is a long railway line between Sundsvall and Storlien in central Sweden (Västernorrland County and Jämtland County). It continues as the long Meråker Line through Norway to Hell Station and onwards to Trondheim. The railway shares line with Inland Line between Brunflo and Östersund while the line between Ånge and Bräcke is double track. The entire line is electrified at , but the Norwegian section is not. This requires all trains to Norway to be diesel trains. SJ AB operates night trains with sleeping cars from Storlien or Duved to either Stockholm, Gothenburg or Malmö. The section between Sundsvall and Trondheim is operated by Tågkompaniet under Norrtåg ownership with Class 92 diesel multiple units between Östersund and Trondheim, and Regina trains between Sundsvall and Östersund. East Coast Line (Sweden)
The East Coast Line ( sv, Ostkustbanan) is a long mainline railway in Sweden, linking the cities of Stockholm, Uppsala, Gävle and Sundsvall, as well as the suburbs north of Stockholm. History At the construction of the first Swedish mainline railway network 1856–1891 there was a principle to avoid the coasts. This was for military reasons (protect against attacks, airplanes did not exist) and to bring steam powered transport to areas without any. The coasts already had steamboats. The Northern Main Line was built Stockholm–Uppsala–Avesta– Storvik–Ånge. Gävle, Söderhamn and Sundsvall which today are located along the East Coast Line were then connected by branches from the mainline. Norrtåg (English: Northern Trains) is a publicly owned company which is owned by Norrbotten County, Västerbotten County, Västernorrland County and Jämtland County in Sweden. The company owns passenger trains and organises passenger train operation. Norrtåg controls ticket sales and contracts an operator which handles actual train operation (staff and permits). The trains are operated under the brand name Norrtåg. Norrtåg started operation in 2010 on the brand new railway Botniabanan, and in 2011 it took over the until then branded Mittnabotåget services. Trains were operated by Botniatåg (an SJ AB / DB Regio joint venture) until 20 August 2016, when Tågkompaniet (now Vy Tåg) took over the franchise. SJ (formally ''SJ AB'') is a government-owned passenger train operator in Sweden. SJ was created in 2001, out of the public transport division of ''Statens Järnvägar'', when the former government agency was divided into six separate government-owned limited companies. In 2018 SJ carried 31.8 million passengers. Overview SJ's operations fall broadly into subsidised and unsubsidised services. The unsubsidised services was until 2011 monopoly. The subsidised trains are awarded through competitive bids. However, some trains fall in between these categories, since public transit agencies can pay SJ to allow transit pass holders access to SJ's trains. SJ received a government bailout a few years after its creation, but has since had profit margins of up to ten per cent. Vy Tåg AB is a Swedish railway company that operates franchises in different parts of Sweden. The company was founded in 1999 by three former railway employees in Statens Järnvägar and the investment company Småföretagsinvest/Fylkinvest. In 2005 Norwegian State Railways (now Vy) purchased 34% of Svenska Tågkompaniet, and later on October 31, 2006 increased its ownership stake to 85%. In 2007 NSB purchased the rest of the company. Previously known as Tågkompaniet or Svenska Tågkompaniet AB (''The Swedish Train Company''), the company rebranded to Vy Tåg in 2019. Folke Zettervall
Folke Zettervall (21 October 1862 – 12 March 1955) was a Swedish architect and head architect with the Swedish State Railways (''Statens Järnvägar'') between 1895 and 1930. Biography Zettervall was born at Lund, Sweden. He was the son of architect Helgo Zettervall (1831–1907). He started his studies at Katedralskolan (''Högre Allmänna Läroverket'') in Uppsala and continued in Copenhagen at Copenhagen Technical College (''Københavns Tekniske Skole''). He continued his education in architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (''Kunst-Akademiets Arkitekturskole'') from 1885 to 1888. After graduation, Zettervall was licensed as an architect and first worked for his father who was chief of Board superintendent for the administration of state buildings (''Överintendentsämbetet'').
