Sundowning (This Is Hell Album)
''Sundowning'' is the debut full-length album by Long Island hardcore punk band This Is Hell. The title refers to the sundowning associated with dementia that is common in Alzheimer's disease. The success of the album landed This Is Hell in the "100 Bands You Need To Know for 2006" in popular music magazine ''Alternative Press''. Daryl Palumbo lends his vocals to the track "Procession Commence" and it is the second time Palumbo has provided guest vocals for a This Is Hell release. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegeneration, neurodegenerative disease that usually starts slowly and progressively worsens. It is the cause of 60–70% of cases of dementia. The most common early symptom is difficulty in short-term memory, remembering recent events. Daryl Palumbo
Daryl Palumbo (born February 10, 1979) is an American musician, originally from Bellmore, New York. He is the frontman of the bands Glassjaw, Head Automatica and Color Film. As a youth he was a member of the Long Island straight edge band ''XbustedX.'' In 1993 he met guitarist Justin Beck, who would become his good friend. Together they formed Glassjaw. Palumbo has Crohn's disease, which has acted as inspiration for much of his musical output, most notably in the lyrical content of Glassjaw's major label debut ''Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence''. His affliction has affected his bands' ability to tour, including the cancellation of a tour with The Used in 2005. Dementia is a disorder which manifests as a set of related symptoms, which usually surfaces when the brain is damaged by injury or disease. The symptoms involve progressive impairments in memory, thinking, and behavior, which negatively affects a person's ability to function and carry out everyday activities. This Is Hell is an American hardcore punk band from Long Island, New York. The band is known for extensive touring and high energy concerts. They have released five studio albums and five EPs. History Early days and formation (2004) This Is Hell formed in June 2004 when Long Island musicians and members of The Backup Plan, Scraps and Heart Attacks, and Subterfuge got together after their previous bands broke up. The name of the band was originally the title of an Elvis Costello song. The band quickly released a four-song self titled demo EP which was later pressed onto vinyl via Boston label Run for Cover Records and in Europe via Broken Glasses Records.
