The Summit School is a state approved, private boarding school, residential school for children and adolescents with special needs in Upper Nyack, New York, United States. Founded in 1974 by Mayer Stiskin, the school serves middle school, middle and high school students. It is affiliated with Summit School (Queens), the day school of the same name in Queens, and is nationally recognized as a prestigious special education facility. Program The Summit School at Nyack offers two programs for students in grades 6–12 – day and residential. Students are referred to the day or residential program by their home school district CSE in accordance with the level of structure and supervision that the student requires. The Summit School is a state funding approved private, special education day school in Queens, New York, United States. Established in 1968, it operates two sites near the St. John's University campus; the Lower School, which educates elementary and middle school students, utilizes space in the Hillcrest Jewish Center, and the Upper School serves high school students in Jamaica Estates. The Northwest School (originally ''The Northwest School of the Arts, Humanities and Environment'') is a private/independent day and boarding school located on Seattle, Washington's First Hill.
