''Sultana's Dream'' () is a 2023 animated drama film directed by Isabel Herguera from a screenplay she co-wrote with Gianmarco Serra, based in part on the 1905 short story of the same name by Rokeya Hossain. Premise Inés, a Spanish artist living in India, travels throughout the country learning about the life of author Rokeya Hossain and the utopian Ladyland she described in her 1905 short story ''Sultana's Dream''. Isabel Herguera
Isabel Herguera is a Spanish artist, filmmaker, cultural manager, professor, and critic. She has won more than 50 awards at various international film festivals. She graduated from UPV-Bilbao, continued her studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 1988, and obtained a master's degree at CalArts. In her 1989 movies ''Safari'' and ''Song of the Round Trip'' animation, sculpture and video were merged and together created a special work of art. In 1994, she founded an animation studio in Los Angeles. In 2003, she returned to Spain from Los Angeles. In 2003–2011, she was the director of Animac, the International Festival of Animated film of Catalonia in Lleida. She also coordinated the motion picture laboratory of the Arteleku art centre in Donostia-San Sebastian. The Quirino Awards, known in Spanish as Premios Quirino de la Animación Iberoamericana ("Quinino Awards for Ibero-American animation") are an annual awards ceremony dedicated to reward achievements in Ibero-American animated productions. Its categories recognize feature films, short films and television productions. The awards were established in 2017, with the first awards ceremony taking place on 7 April 2018 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. The 29th Forqué Awards, organised by , were presented on 16 December 2023 at the IFEMA Palacio Municipal in Madrid. The 37th European Film Awards, presented by the European Film Academy to recognize achievements in European filmmaking, took place at Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern in Lucerne on 7 December 2024. The Golden Shell (; ) is the highest prize given to a competing film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. It was introduced in 1957. The Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) is an annual film festival hosted in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is the largest film festival in England outside of London.
