''Sultana's Dream'' ( es, El sueño de la sultana) is a 2023 animated film directed by Isabel Herguera based in part on the 1905 short story of the same name by Rokeya Hossain. Premise Inés, a Spanish artist living in India, travels throughout the country learning about the life of author Rokeya Hossain and the utopian Ladyland she described in her 1905 short story ''Sultana's Dream''. Isabel Herguera
Isabel Herguera is an artist, filmmaker, cultural manager, professor, and critic. She has won more than 50 awards at various international film festivals. She graduated from UPV-Bilbao, continued her studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 1988, and obtained a master's degree at CalArts. In her 1989 movies ''Safari'' and ''Song of the Round Trip'' animation, sculpture and video were merged and together created a special work of art. In 1994, she founded an animation studio in Los Angeles. In 2003, she returned to Spain from Los Angeles. In 2003–2011, she was the director of Animac, the International Festival of Animated film of Catalonia in Lleida. She also coordinated the motion picture laboratory of the Arteleku art centre in Donostia-San Sebastian. 29th Forqué Awards
The 29th Forqué Awards, organised by , were presented on 16 December 2023 at the IFEMA Palacio Municipal in Madrid. Background Organised by EGEDA, the ceremony has the participation of Ayuntamiento de Madrid, the Madrid regional administration and RTVE, and the collaboration of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport and FIPCA. 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival
The 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival took place from 9 to 15 June 2024, in Annecy, France. Michel Hazanavicius drama film '' The Most Precious of Cargoes'', adapted from the novel of the same name by Jean-Claude Grumberg, served as the opening film. Quirino Awards
The Quirino Awards, known in Spanish as Premios Quirino de la Animación Iberoamericana ("Quinino Awards for Ibero-American animation") are an annual awards ceremony dedicated to reward achievements in Ibero-American animated productions. Its categories recognize feature films, short films and television productions. The awards were established in 2017, with the first awards ceremony taking place on 7 April 2018 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. Since then, the ceremony has usually taken place in May of each year during several days in some location within Tenerife. The awards' name is in honour of Italian-Argentinian animation director Quirino Cristiani, known for being responsible of the 1917 film ''El Apóstol'', considered the world's first animated feature film. 11th Platino Awards
The 11th Platino Awards, presented by the Entidad de Gestión de Derechos de los Productores Audiovisuales (EGEDA) and the Federación Iberoamericana de Productores Cinematográficos y Audiovisuales (FIPCA), will take place at Gran Tlachco Theater in Riviera Maya, Mexico, to recognize excellence in Ibero-American film and television of 2023. 38th Goya Awards
The 38th Goya Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain, took place at the premises in Valladolid, Castile and León on 10 February 2024.
