Sujita Basnet ( ne, सुजिता बस्नेत) (born 10 May 1993) is an American-Nepalese beauty pageant titleholder, social worker and management consultant who participated in many beauty pageants from 2011 to 2021. She was crowned as Miss Universe Nepal 2021. She represented Nepal at Miss Universe 2021. She was also the first runner up to Miss Universe Nepal 2020. She worked at many social organizations in the USA and became a well-known social worker. Early life Sujita Basnet was born in Maryland to single mother Reena Karki and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal by her grandparents until the age of 5 while her mother was completing her studies in the United States. Sophiya Bhujel ( ne, सोफिया भुजेल) (born 1 January 1996) is a Nepalese beauty pageant titleholder and model who was crowned as Miss Universe Nepal 2022 and represented Nepal at Miss Universe 2022. The Miss Universe Nepal (MUN) is a beauty pageant competition. The contest selects the country representative for Miss Universe. The current Miss Universe Nepal is Jane Dipika Garrett from Kathmandu. History The Miss Universe Nepal officially began in 2017 and the first title was Nominated to Nagma Shrestha. The contest was conducted by Hidden Treasure Nepal until 2019 when Brave, Bold & Beautiful (previously known as Ma: Nepali) became the official franchisee for Miss Universe on 11 June 2020. National Harbor is a census-designated place (CDP) in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States, located along the Potomac River near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and just south of Washington, D.C. It originated as a multi-use waterfront development. Per the 2020 census, the population was 5,509. The Miss Maryland USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state Maryland in the Miss USA pageant. The pageant is directed by D&D Productions. The first Miss USA winner from Maryland, Mary Leona Gage, won Miss USA 1957. However, she was later discovered to be a mother of two sons and was therefore dethroned. In 2012, Nana Meriwether placed 1st runner-up, but became Miss USA 2012 when Olivia Culpo won Miss Universe 2012. Six Maryland titleholders are former Miss Maryland Teen USAs.
