Suicide Of Jacintha Saldanha
Jacintha Saldanha (1966 – 7 December 2012) was an Indian nurse who worked at King Edward VII's Hospital in the City of Westminster, London. On 7 December 2012, she was found dead by suicide, three days after falling for a prank phone call as part of a radio stunt. In the prank call, the hosts of the Australian radio programme ''Hot30 Countdown'', broadcast on the Southern Cross Austereo owned station 2Day FM in Sydney, called Saldanha's hospital and impersonated the Queen and the Prince of Wales enquiring about the health of the Catherine, Princess of Wales, who was a patient there at the time. Saldanha fell for the hoax and transferred the call to the nurse looking after the Duchess. Saldanha's suicide led to public outrage, including in Saldanha's home country against those responsible for perpetrating and broadcasting the prank. King Edward VII's Hospital Sister Agnes
King Edward VII's Hospital (formal name: King Edward VII's Hospital Sister Agnes) is a private hospital located on Beaumont Street in the Marylebone district of central London. Agnes Keyser, later known as Sister Agnes, established the hospital in her home at 17 Grosvenor Crescent in 1899 in the wake of the Second Boer War and at the suggestion of the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) who went on to become the hospital's patron. Its first intake of sick and mostly gunshot-wounded British Army officers arrived in February 1900. The hospital continued to operate during peacetime. During the First World War it continued to specialise in treatment of wounded officers by a select group of honorary staff, drawn up by Sister Agnes and made up of eminent London surgeons of the time. Michael Christian is an Australian radio presenter. Along with his co-host Mel Greig, he perpetrated a prank call to the hospital caring for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge that contributed to the suicide of one of the nurses. Mel Greig (born 19 September 1982) is an Australian radio and television personality. Career In 2011, she competed on the first season of ''The Amazing Race Australia'' with her sister Alana. In 2012, Greig began co-hosting the ''Hot30 Countdown'' show on 2Day FM with Matty Acton, who was later replaced by Mike Christian.
