Sugar And Beyond
''Sugar and Beyond'' is a double compilation album by the British singer-songwriter Lynsey de Paul released on 18 March 2013, together with a second double album, ''Into My Music''. De Paul personally oversaw the project and was involved in the digital remastering of the tracks from the original tapes. The CD includes all her hits as well as the two LPs released in the period between 1972 and 1974. Overview The majority of the tracks on this CD had not been reissued previously. The first CD (and the first four tracks on the second CD) contained all of the recordings for MAM Records (the four singles with A-sides and B sides) as well as tracks from the '' Surprise'' album. The version of "Sugar Me" included is the longer album version produced by de Paul, rather than the single version which was produced by Gordon Mills. The International Pop Overthrow (often referred to as simply The IPO) is an American-originated music festival, devoted to power pop music and related genres. The festival is dedicated to bring classic pop music to the public, and is run by CEO and founder David Bash and Rina Bardfield. ''Goldmine'', established in September 1974 by Brian Bukantis out of Fraser, Michigan, is an American magazine that focuses on the collectors' market for records, tapes, CDs, and music-related memorabilia. Each issue features news articles, interviews, discographies, histories, current reviews on recording stars of the past and present. Discographies are included, listing all known releases. Coverage includes rock, blues, soul, Americana, folk, new wave, punk and heavy metal. The gustatory system or sense of taste is the sensory system that is partially responsible for the perception of taste (flavor). Thunderthighs (also known as "Thunder Thighs") were a British backing vocal group, who became artists in their own right. Career The female trio, consisting of Karen Friedman, Dari Lalou (American) and Casey Synge, provided the backing vocals to Lou Reed's hit single, " Walk on the Wild Side" (from his 1972 ''Transformer'' album). It was around this vocal arrangement that singer-songwriter Lynsey de Paul wrote their first single, " Central Park Arrest", which reached number 30 in the UK Singles Chart in 1974. "Central Park Arrest" is a song composed by Lynsey de Paul for the vocal trio Thunderthighs, and told the story of a policewoman apprehending a flasher in New York's Central Park. This song in the style of TV cop theme tunes of the day featured police sirens wailing, shots being fired and megaphone radio. The song was a top 30 hit in the UK Singles Chart. The release garnered good reviews in the music press, with ''Record World'' choosing it as a single pick and saying "Do-do-do ladies from Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" do their own hit shopping'". Blue's backing band of session musicians were well known in the industry and one year later the drummer, John Richardson, joined the Rubettes. Barry Blue's song reached the number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, (and number 1 on the ''Melody Maker'' top 30), number 2 on the Australian Kent Music chart, number 3 on the Austrian singles chart, number 4 on the Irish Singles Chart, number 9 on the German singles chart, and number 11 on the Dutch singles chart.
