"Sugar" is a song by Australian electronic music duo Peking Duk and Jack River. The song was released on 17 January 2019 and peaked at number 54 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2019, the song was nominated for Best Dance Release. Background and release Jack River (whose real name is Holly Rankin) supported Peking Duk duo on their 2018 Australian tour and became friends. Peking Duk said "We've always loved what Jack River does and how she does it, so once she said that she loved the idea and hopped on the song, everything fit perfectly. She changed what was once a sombre melancholic skeleton of a song in to a fun, playful and sugary playground." Jack River said it became "a bucket list item" to work with Peking Duk. Peking Duk are an electronic music group made up of disc jockeys and music producers Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles. The pair first garnered attention in 2012 with the release of a Passion Pit bootleg remix. Their biggest hit "High (Peking Duk song), High" reached 5 on the ARIA Charts, ARIA Singles Chart, achieved a triple platinum certification and won the ARIA Award for Best Dance Release at the ARIA Music Awards of 2014.. Toni-Ville Henrik Virtanen (; born July 17, 1975), better known by his stage name Darude (), is a Finnish DJ and record producer from Eura, Satakunta. David Lubega Balemezi (born 13 April 1975), better known by his stage name Lou Bega, is a German singer. His 1999 song " Mambo No. 5", a remake of Pérez Prado's 1949 instrumental piece, reached number 1 in many European countries and was nominated for a Grammy Award. The ARIA Music Award for Best Dance Release, is an award presented at the annual ARIA Music Awards, which recognises "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", since 1987.
