Stutter
Stuttering, also known as stammering, is a speech disorder in which the flow of speech is disrupted by involuntary repetitions and prolongations of sounds, syllables, words, or phrases as well as involuntary silent pauses or blocks in which the person who stutters is unable to produce sounds. The term ''stuttering'' is most commonly associated with involuntary sound repetition, but it also encompasses the abnormal hesitation or pausing before speech, referred to by people who stutter as ''blocks'', and the prolongation of certain sounds, usually vowels or semivowels. According to Watkins et al., stuttering is a disorder of "selection, initiation, and execution of motor sequences necessary for fluent speech production". arlson, N. (2013). Human Communication. In Physiology of behavior (11th ed., pp. 497–500). Boston: Allyn and Bacon./ref> For many people who stutter, repetition is the main concern. The term "stuttering" covers a wide range of severity, from barely perceptible imp ...

Stuttering Frog
The stuttering frog (''Mixophyes balbus'') is a large species of frog that inhabits temperate and sub-tropical rainforest and wet sclerophyll forest in Australia. Distribution This frog's historical distribution ranged from the Timbarra River near Drake in northern New South Wales, to the Cann River catchment in eastern Victoria and covered an area of approximately 110 000 km². Populations south of Sydney have declined dramatically and the Victorian populations are believed to be extinct. It has also disappeared from a number of sites in NSW where it was once common. It occurs at altitudes between 20 m and 1400 m. In the north of its range the species occurs only at high altitudes while in the south both upland and lowland populations have been recorded. Description This frog can reach up to 80 mm in length. Its dorsal surface is brown and diffuses laterally to merge with a pale yellow on the ventral surface. An irregular shaped blotch starts between the eyes and fini ...

Stutter Step
A stutter step is a footwork technique in tennis and other sports. The term has fallen out of usage in the modern game, but the technique is still used. The stutter step is basically running forward with small steps while squatting, having the back perpendicular to the ground, and having the racquet up in front. It is a technique used to approach the net after a strong approach shot in preparation for a volley. It allows the player to be in a stable ready position while moving forward and creating a higher percentage volley. Common meaning in modern usage Although the term is mainly used in tennis, it has also become a modern term that is used commonly meaning to "unsurely make a decision or perform a job or activity". For example, you could 'stutter step" in a decision, or take slow, unsure steps and be cautious towards it instead of to just make up your mind and go for it. In basketball In basketball, the stutter step is a common warm-up drill where you shuffle and scuff y ...

Stuttering Equivalence
In theoretical computer science, stuttering equivalence, a relation written as :\pi\sim_\pi', can be seen as a partitioning of paths \pi and \pi' into blocks, so that states in the k^ block of one path are labeled (L(\sdot)) the same as states in the k^ block of the other path. Corresponding blocks may have different lengths. Formally, this can be expressed as two infinite paths \pi=s_0, s_1, \ldots and \pi'=r_0, r_1, \ldots being stuttering equivalent (\pi \sim_ \pi') if there are two infinite sequences of integers 0 = i_0 < i_1 < i_2 < \ldots and 0 = j_0 < j_1 < j_2 < \ldots such that for every block k \geq 0 holds L(s_) = L(s_) = \ldots = L(s_) = L(r_) = L(r_) = \ldots = L(r_). Stuttering equivalence is not the same as , since bisimulation cannot capture the semantics of the 'eventually' (or ' ...

Stutterer (film)
''Stutterer'' is a short drama film written and directed by Benjamin Cleary and produced by Serena Armitage and Shan Christopher Ogilvie. Plot Greenwood, a lonely typographer, makes a phone call to discuss a bill issue, but his stutter keeps him from getting his words out and he is hung up on. Later, in a conversation with his online girlfriend Ellie on Facebook, Ellie says she has a surprise for Greenwood and will tell him the next day. In public, Greenwood makes "snap judgement" observations about strangers he sees, clearly speaking the thoughts inside his head. While walking to his father's house, he practices in his head a quote he wants to speak to his father. While playing a game of Go with him, he's finally able to get the quote out, albeit slowly, and his father is pleased. Later that night, Ellie nervously messages Greenwood and lets him know she is in London for a week and wants to meet him in person. Greenwood, on hold to attempt to deal with his bill problem still, ...

Screen Tearing
Screen tearing is a visual artifact in video display where a display device shows information from multiple frames in a single screen draw. The artifact occurs when the video feed to the device is not synchronized with the display's refresh rate. That can be caused by non-matching refresh rates, and the tear line then moves as the phase difference changes (with speed proportional to difference of frame rates). It can also occur simply from lack of synchronization between two equal frame rates, and the tear line is then at a fixed location that corresponds to the phase difference. During video motion, screen tearing creates a torn look as edges of objects (such as a wall or a tree) fail to line up. Tearing can occur with most common display technologies and video cards, and is most noticeable in horizontally-moving visuals, such as in slow camera pans in a movie, or classic side-scrolling video games. Screen tearing is less noticeable when more than two frames finish rendering d ...

Stuttering (Don't Say)
''Fire'' was the unreleased third album by Wild Orchid. The album was meant to be released on June 19, 2001, but was shelved after the group was dropped by RCA Records. This would've been the group's final release with Stacy Ferguson. Production The album was recorded from 1999 to 2000, with several of the tracks being co-written and co-produced by 'N Sync member JC Chasez, Oliver Leiber, Robbie Nevil, 3AM and Sweden's Epicenter. Stefanie Ridel told ''Billboard'' magazine, "The album's lighter, more fun - and more in step with how we feel about ourselves." She also stated that the album would be filled with energy and spirit, in comparison to the group's previous two albums, which she thought were overly serious. Release and promotion Promotion for the album began back in 1999 while Wild Orchid was in the midst of recording. They performed "World Without You" and "Candle Light" while opening for ''Chers ''Do You Believe? Tour.'' While opening for 'N Sync's '''N Sync in Concert'' t ...

Stutter Edit
The stutter edit, or stutter effect, is the rhythmic repetition of small fragments of audio, occurring as the common 16th note repetition, but also as 64th notes and beyond, with layers of digital signal processing operations in a rhythmic fashion based on the overall length of the host tempo.Cosmin Lukacs“Interview With BT aka Brian Transeau,” Trance Sound, September 10, 2010. The Stutter Edit audio software VST plug-in implements forms of granular synthesis, sample retrigger, and various effects to create a certain audible manipulation of the sound run through it, in which fragments of audio are repeated in rhythmic intervals. The plug-in allows musicians to manipulate audio in real time, slicing audio into small fragments and sequences the pieces into rhythmic effects, recreating techniques that formerly took hours to do in the studio. Electronic musician Brian Transeau (known as BT) is widely recognized for pioneering the stutter edit as a musical technique; he developed, coi ...
