Stuart Hamilton (public Servant)
Stuart Anthony Hamilton (born 31 March 1950) is a retired Australian senior public servant and CEO. Early life Stuart Hamilton was born in 1950 in Hobart, Tasmania, the son of Murray and Yvonne Hamilton. He attended the University of Tasmania gaining a First Class Honours degree in Arts, majoring in English Language and Literature. He then attended Magdalen College Oxford University as the Tasmanian Rhodes Scholar for 1971, where he met and married Suzanne Westrop, a classicist studying at St Hilda’s College. They have two children, Richard (b. 1984) and Lucy (b. 1987). He subsequently attended the Australian National University, gaining a Bachelor of Economics in 1980. Tony Ayers
Anthony Joseph "Tony" Ayers (16 September 193311 April 2016) was an Australian public servant. Life and career Ayers was born on 16 September 1933. His first job was teaching in a Victorian school. He later was an education officer in Pentridge Prison, Melbourne. In 1967 Ayers moved to Canberra as Director of Welfare in the Department of the Interior. He was appointed to his first Secretary role in 1979 as head of the Department of Aboriginal Affairs. Ayers moved soon after, in 1981, to the Department of Social Security (DSS). During his time at DSS he served concurrently for three months as Acting Secretary of the Department of Community Services. Ayers moved to an appointment as Secretary of the Department of Community Services and Health when the Hawke government restructured the public service and created "super ministries" in 1987. Roger David Bernard Beale (born 18 December 1946) is a former senior Australian public servant and policymaker. Since retiring from the public service, Beale has continued to pursue work as an artist, having held exhibitions in galleries around Canberra since 1984. Background and early life Roger Beale was born on 18 December 1946 in Bombay, India. Beale and his parents emigrated to Australia from India in the 1950s, so he could receive better treatment for the polio he had contracted at age two. He joined the Australian Public Service at the age of 21, after four years with a firm of solicitors in Melbourne. In 1979 Blunn took a position in the Department of Finance, in an area linked with works, mainland Territories, defence and other areas. He moved to the Department of Business and Consumer Affairs in 1980, and was appointed to his first permanent Secretary role in 1981 as head of the Department of the Capital Territory. Robert James Lee Hawke (9 December 1929 – 16 May 2019) was an Australian politician and union organiser who served as the 23rd prime minister of Australia from 1983 to 1991, holding office as the leader of the Australian Labor Party (ALP).
