Streetlife (Geeza Album)
''Streetlife'' is the debut album by Australian rock group, Geeza. It was released in mid-1977 by Laser Records / RCA Records and was produced by Mario Millo. The first single, 'Run 'n' Hide', peaked at number 56 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart, while the second single, 'Song to Warilla', failed to chart. Background Geeza was formed in Sydney's western suburbs in late 1973. Their cabaret-style theatrical performances included exploding phone boxes and other extravagant props that were used to win over audiences across Sydney. By September 1975, the band consisted of Gabriel Vendetti on guitar; Lee Martin (aka Martin Adamson) on bass guitar and backing vocals; Allan Fraiel on drums and backing vocals; and Terry Halliday (aka Terry Meaney) on lead vocals. The group started playing some songs in drag, which then led to the writing of the track "Dragon Queen" by Adamson, Venditti, Fraiel and Meaney. Geeza
Geeza are an Australian rock band formed in late 1973 in Sydney by Tony Cini, Gabriel Vendetti, Martin Adamson, Allan Fraiel and Ian Webb. Early in their career they performed as The Geeza Rock'n'Roll Show. The current lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Terry Halliday, led the band through several incarnations since 1975 with founding members Cini, Watts, Marshall and Webb departing. The remaining four members released Geeza's only album to date, '' Streetlife'', in late 1977. The album spawned a top 100 single, "Run 'n' Hide" on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart. The group disbanded in 1979, before being reformed by Halliday in 2010, as the sole member from their 1970s line-up. Martin Fabinyi
Martin Fabinyi is an Australian film and television producer and director, songwriter and music label owner and has written books on the local rock music scene. He was the chief executive officer of Mushroom Pictures from its formation in 1993 to 2009. His film projects include the features '' Chopper'' (2000), ''Gettin' Square'' (2003), Wolf Creek (2005) and '' Macbeth'' (2006). Fabinyi was profiled by ''Variety'' and named one of the most influential people in the Australian film industry by '' Screen International'' magazine. In 1978 Fabinyi and composer Cameron Allan formed the label Regular Records, initially for releases by pop and R&B band, Mental As Anything. Music Australia was a free national online service hosted by the National Library of Australia, launched on 14 March 2005, covering all types, styles, and genres of Australian music. It was integrated into Trove in 2012. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia. ARIA became the official Australian music chart in June 1988, succeeding the Kent Music Report, which had been Australia's national music sales charts since 1974. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is a trade association representing the Australian recording industry which was established in the 1970s by six major record companies, EMI, Festival, CBS, RCA, WEA and Universal replacing the Association of Australian Record Manufacturers (AARM) which was formed in 1956. St Ives is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia 18 kilometres north of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. St Leonards, New South Wales
St Leonards is a suburb on the lower North Shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. ''The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' or ''Rock and Pop'' by Australian music journalist Ian McFarlane is a guide to Australian popular music from the 1950s to the late 1990s. The book has a similar title to the 1978 work by Noel McGrath, ''Australian Encyclopaedia of Rock and Pop'', but is not otherwise related. Publishers, Allen & Unwin described McFarlane's encyclopedia as containing over 870 entries and an "essential reference to the bands and artists who molded the shape of Australian popular music ..in an A-to-Z encyclopedia format complete with biographical and historical details. Brian Bansgrove
Brian Bansgrove (18 July 1941 – 29 December 2001) was a New Zealand gaffer (chief lighting technician for motion pictures) best known for his work on ''The Lord of the Rings'' film trilogy. Andrew Lesnie, who won the 2002 Academy Award for Cinematography for '' The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring'' said that Bansgrove and his crew were the "key element" in helping him craft images for the three ''Lord of the Rings'' films during the 15-month shoot between mid-1999 and late 2000. At the nomination of the film for the 16th annual ASC awards (American Society of Cinematographers), Lesnie called him "one of the true legends of the Australian film industry" saying further that "he was an extremely close collaborator" in the lighting design.
