Straub's Markets
Straub's Markets (or Straub's Fine Grocers) is a specialty food retailer headquartered in downtown Clayton, Missouri founded in 1901 by William A. Straub. It sold ice cream at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair and has four locations in the Greater St. Louis Area, having expanded from the original location in Webster Groves to Clayton in 1933, the Central West End in 1948, and Town and Country in 1966. According to the company, over 52 tons of its "World Famous Chicken Salad," are sold each year. The company is owned and operated by Jack W. "Trip" Straub III. Awards * N.A.S.F.T. Suburban Journals
Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis was a group of publications in the St. Louis region owned by Lee Enterprises. The chain served the St. Louis and St. Charles counties in Missouri and in the Madison, Monroe and St. Clair Counties in Illinois. It published community newspapers, the ''Ladue News,'' ''Savvy Family,'' ''St. Louis' Best Bridal'' and ''Feast.'' Publications were grouped in regional offices in Town and Country, Missouri, and Collinsville, Illinois. The chain for years was distributed to homes for free. The papers became subscription-only in November 2008, a move decried by long-time employees as "the beginning of the end.". The Specialty Food Association, Inc. (SFA) is membership-based trade association in the United States representing 3,000+ member companies.
