Strangers (The Kinks Song)
"Strangers" is a song written by Dave Davies and performed by British rock group the Kinks. It was released in November 1970 on the Kinks' LP record album ''Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One'', which is best known for producing the hit single "Lola". "Strangers" is one of two tracks written by Dave Davies on the album, the other being "Rats". He has said that the song is about an old school friend who died of a drug overdose. Although never released as a single, it has remained popular with fans to this day, especially after it was used in the 2007 Wes Anderson film ''The Darjeeling Limited'' (along with two other album tracks written by Ray Davies, " This Time Tomorrow" and "Powerman"). The Kinks
The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, north London, in 1963 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. They are regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s. "This Time Tomorrow" is the eighth track from the Kinks' 1970 album, ''Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One''. It was written by Ray Davies. Lyrics and music Ray Davies said of the song's inspiration: "This Time Tomorrow", like most of the other tracks on ''Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One'', criticizes the music business. Piebald (band)
Piebald is an American rock band. Piebald started as a hardcore punk band in Andover, Massachusetts, out of the same scene that produced Converge and Cave In. Originally a key Massachusetts post-hardcore band often seen touring with fellow DIY hardcore bands such as Jesuit, Reversal of Man, and Harvest during the mid to late 1990s, they later moved to the Boston suburb of Somerville and became a staple of the Greater Boston indie rock scene. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. ''Another Fine Day'' is Golden Smog's third full-length album. It was released on July 18, 2006. It reached number 95 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 chart. Background Golden Smog's lineup was chiefly made up of Kraig Johnson (Run Westy Run), Dan Murphy (musician), Dan Murphy (Soul Asylum) Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) and Gary Louris and bassist Marc Perlman (both of The Jayhawks). It had been 8 years since 1998's ''Weird Tales (album), Weird Tales'' release by the group. In the meantime, the Jayhawks broke up and Soul Asylum went on hiatus. Golden Smog is an alternative country-rock supergroup of loosely connected musicians mostly from the Minneapolis area. At various times, members of Soul Asylum, The Replacements, Wilco, The Jayhawks, Run Westy Run, The Honeydogs and Big Star have worked with Golden Smog. A supergroup is a musical group whose members are successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. Wye Oak is an American indie rock duo from Baltimore, Maryland, United States, composed of Andy Stack (drums, keyboards, backup vocals) and Jenn Wasner (vocals, guitars and bass). ''Look at What the Light Did Now'' is a documentary/live album DVD/CD by Canadian indie pop artist Feist, first released in December 2010. The DVD comprises an 80-minute documentary directed by Anthony Seck, five music videos from 2007 album The Reminder, and a number of live performances recorded between 2007 and 2009, including covers of songs by artists such as Little River Band and Ron Sexsmith.
