Strange Music
Strange Music is an American independent record label specializing in hip hop music and founded by Tech N9ne and Travis O'Guin in 1999. History In 2009 Skatterman & Snug Brim fulfilled their commitment to Strange Music and left the label. In 2010 Jay Rock signed a multi-album deal with Strange Music. In 2011 Stevie Stone joined the label in March and Prozak in December. In 2012 Strange Music signed the duo CES Cru, made up of rappers Ubiquitous and Godemis, in January and Slumerican rapper Rittz in August. In 2014 Murs signed to Strange Music in February and Kutt Calhoun and Jay Rock left Strange Music in September. In 2016 Chicago-based pop group AboveWaves signed to the label. Melvin Lewis Calhoun Jr. (born January 1, 1977), better known by his stage name Kutt Calhoun, is an American rapper and business executive from Kansas City, Missouri. After getting his start in the late 1990s underground rap scene of Kansas City, he subsequently signed to Strange Music when the label was founded in 1999. Calhoun released his debut album '' B.L.E.V.E.'' in 2004, and his 2007 sophomore album ''Feature Presentation'' debuted at number 60 on the ''Billboard'' Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Calhoun's third album, ''Raw and Un-Kutt'', made its debut at number 162 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart in its first week of release, as well as charting at No. 19 on the Top Heatseekers chart. Big Scoob
Stewart D. Ashby Jr. (born May 9, 1973) better known by his stage name Big Scoob is an American rapper from Kansas City, Missouri, who records for Strange Music. Early life Big Scoob spent his late adolescence and part of his early adulthood involved with gangs in his native Kansas City, Missouri. Rap music eventually provided a path out of the lifestyle. Musical career Early career Along with fellow Kansas City natives Tech N9ne, Bakarri, and Txx Will, he formed the 57th Street Rogue Dog Villians, a group that released a handful of albums during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Frustrated with the industry, Scoob left music and focused on raising his daughters. Genius (Krizz Kaliko Album)
''Genius'' is the second album from Krizz Kaliko, an American rapper from Kansas City, Missouri, which was released on July 14, 2009. It features guest appearances from Tech N9ne, E-40, Kutt Calhoun and Big Scoob. On July 7, 2009, a music video for the single "Misunderstood" was released on the Strange Music YouTube Account. When discussing the song "Misunderstood" in an interview, Krizz revealed the inspiration behind the production of the song. ''Sickology 101'' is the eighth studio album, and the second in the "Collabos" series, by rapper Tech N9ne. Early on, the album carried a "The Study of Being Sick" subtitle, but as its release grew nearer, the subtitle was phased out. The album features guest appearances from Krayzie Bone, Crooked I, Chino XL, Messy Marv, Ron Ron, Potluck, also featured are fellow Kansas City rappers Cash Image, D-Locc Da Chop and the 57th Street Rogue Dog . It was released on October 7, 2008 and was able to chart #60 on ''Billboards "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums" chart in its first week of release. It contains 19 tracks, with collaborations with fellow Strange Music label mates like Tech N9ne, the group Skatterman & Snug Brim, and Krizz Kaliko. It also includes other artists such as BG-Bulletwound, The Popper, Greed, Joe Vertigo, Riv Locc, DJ Chill, Vance Leroy, Bishop, and singer Jerita Streater. Steven T. Shippy, better known by his stage name Prozak, is an American independent rapper and film director from Saginaw, Michigan. He's a member of the group Project:Deadman with Mike E. Clark as well as the group Bedlam with Madness and Staplez. He is one of few rappers of Chaldean Catholic religious background. ''Vitiligo'' is the debut album by rapper and singer Krizz Kaliko. His debut album comes after spending several years lending his voice to releases from Tech N9ne and his other labelmates. The album's title comes from the skin disorder vitiligo, which Krizz has. The album contained several guests features, such as Tech N9ne, who appeared on a good portion of the album. Other names who appeared on the album include the group Twiztid, bay area rapper E-40 as well as several of Kaliko's fellow label mates. The clean version of the album included one more feature, King Gordy, on the track "Mirror, Mirror." Those who pre-ordered the album through F.Y.E. received a free bonus downloadable track titled "In Da Whip." In its release week, ''Vitiligo'' found its way onto several Billboard charts.
