Stormy Weather (Thelonious Monster Album)
''Stormy Weather'' is the third album by the American band Thelonious Monster, released in 1989. The CD version included their previous album, ''Next Saturday Afternoon''. The band supported the album by touring with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone. "So What If I Did" was a minor modern rock hit. Production The album was produced by John Doe. "For My Lover" is a cover of the Tracy Chapman song; "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean" is a cover of the Blind Lemon Jefferson song. Many of the songs are about accepting personal responsibility. Edward Colver did the photography for ''Stormy Weather''. "Sammy Hagar Weekend" is about teenage troublemakers in Anaheim; it was added to album when the band realized they had too many serious songs. The band offers admiration for Jesse Jackson on "Lena Horne Still Sings Stormy Weather". "Colorblind" describes white flight. Thelonious Monster
Thelonious Monster is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, led by singer-songwriter Bob Forrest and named after jazz musician Thelonious Monk. Active from 1984 to 1994, again from 2004 to 2011, and reforming a second time in 2019, the band has released five original studio albums. Buck Clarke
William Lewis "Buck" Clarke (October 2, 1933 – October 11, 1988) was an American jazz percussionist who played with Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Les McCann, Russ Freeman, Gerald Albright, Jimmy Smith and others. Clarke's many musical styles include soul, funk and contemporary jazz, with an Afrocentric perspective. Early life Clarke was born in Washington, DC on October 2, 1933. At 15, he started working at a display sign store. The father of one of his bosses was a cousin to Duke Ellington, so Clarke began to listen to jazz records by musicians such as Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, Allen Jones and Dizzy Gillespie during lunch breaks and weekends, and he became "hooked on jazz." Keith Morris
Keith Morris (born September 18, 1955) is an American singer and songwriter known for his role as frontman of the hardcore punk bands Black Flag, Circle Jerks, and Off!. Born and raised in Hermosa Beach, California, he formed Black Flag at the age of 21 with guitarist Greg Ginn and performed on the band's 1979 debut EP ''Nervous Breakdown''. Shortly after leaving Black Flag in 1979, he formed the Circle Jerks with guitarist Greg Hetson; the band released seven albums between 1980 and 1995 and have broken up and reformed on numerous occasions. Peter Case (born April 5, 1954) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. His career is wide-ranging, from rock n' roll and blues, to folk rock and solo acoustic performance. Biography Early career Case was born in Buffalo, New York and lived in nearby Hamburg, New York. He wrote his first song "Stay Away," in 1965, at the age of eleven. A veteran of several rock bands and the local bar scene as a teenager, Case dropped out of high school when he was fifteen (he would later earn a GED), and after several years of traveling arrived in 1973 in San Francisco, where he performed as a street musician. Michael Peter Balzary (born October 16, 1962), known professionally as Flea, is an Australian-American musician and actor. He is a founding member and bassist of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Flea was born in Melbourne, Victoria; his family moved to Rye, New York, when he was four. Keith Barry, known professionally as Tree, is an American musician and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known as a past touring member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and for having appeared on several albums released by the band. He is also a member of the funk band Mandrill. The ''New Haven Register'' is a daily newspaper published in New Haven, Connecticut. It is owned by Hearst Communications. The Register's main office is located at 100 Gando Drive in New Haven.
