Storm Coaster
''Storm Coaster'' is a Water Coaster located at the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast, Australia. The ride is designed by Mack Rides of Germany and combines the flume and splashdown elements of a log flume, with the chain lift hill and drops of a steel roller coaster. Original plans for a Water Coaster at Sea World were released by the local council in 2008; however, they were put on hold. In 2010, the Bermuda Triangle ride closed, sitting dormant until mid-2012 when construction for the ''Storm Coaster'' began. After demolition works were completed, track for the ''Storm Coaster'' arrived at Sea World, taking five months to erect. ''Storm Coaster'' officially opened to the public on 6 December 2013. Bermuda Triangle (Sea World)
The Bermuda Triangle was a themed indoor flume ride at the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast, Australia. In 2013, the ride was replaced by Storm Coaster, a Mack Rides water coaster. The Sea World ride has a replica (named Bermuda Triangle: Alien Encounter) that still operates in Movie Park Germany to this day, though it was given an Area 51 retheme in 2019 titled Area 51 - Top Secret. Jet Rescue
Jet Rescue is a steel launched jet ski roller coaster made by Intamin that opened on 26 December 2008 at Sea World on the Gold Coast, Australia. The ride has a very twisted and banked layout with several fast directional changes. Unlike other family launch roller coasters, Jet Rescue features two launches. The ride features a unique jet ski style of seating with lap bar restraints. The ride is based upon Sea World's Research and Rescue Foundation performing the rescue of a sea lion. History In the first half of 2008, a small area of the Sea World Ski Lake north of the bridge was filled with sand to aid in the construction of a new roller coaster. Roller Coaster Wheel Assembly
Today's modern roller coasters, both wooden and steel, have the same basic design of wheel assembly. Each wheel assembly has three wheels: underfriction, or up-stop, wheels; tractor, or running, wheels; and side friction wheels. All of these help the train move safely and smoothly. Viking's Revenge Flume Ride
Viking's Revenge Flume Ride was a log flume at the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast, Australia. History In the late 1970s, Sea World set about adding a log flume to their park. American firm Arrow Dynamics was approached, however, they asked $1.5 million to construct it. John Menzies decided this price was too high and began constructing the ride in-house. He made several overseas trips to measure the dimensions of similar rides. The final cost of the ride turned out to be $350,000 - a fraction of what Arrow Dynamics wanted. After a soft-opening in 1978, the ride officially opened in March 1979. In late 2012, the ride's course was rerouted to make way for the construction of the park's 2013 attraction, Storm Coaster, on the site of the former Bermuda Triangle ride.
