Stonehouse (TV Series)
''Stonehouse'' is a British comedy-drama television series dramatising the life and times of disgraced British government minister John Stonehouse, first broadcast from 2 to 4 January 2023. The series starred Matthew Macfadyen and Keeley Hawes and was directed by Jon S. Baird from a script by John Preston. Synopsis The series is a part fictional/fact based account of how in November 1974 a prominent Labour British politician, John Stonehouse, the former Postmaster General within the Harold Wilson government and MP for Walsall North, disappeared from the beach of a luxury hotel in Miami, Florida. Stonehouse left only a neatly folded pile of clothes behind, after he swam into the sea to fake his own death. Stonehouse faked his own death in a vain attempt to avoid disgracing his reputation. John Preston (English Author)
John Preston (born 1953) is an English journalist and novelist. Career John Preston attended Marlborough College in Wiltshire from 1967 to 1971. He worked as the Arts Editor of ''The Evening Standard'' and ''The Sunday Telegraph''. He was ''The Sunday Telegraph''s television critic for ten years and one of its chief feature writers. Preston wrote four novels between 1996 and 2007. All are set in England in the recent past: ''Ghosting'' in the world of radio and television in the 1950s; ''Ink'' in the dying days of Fleet Street's importance in journalism in the 1980s; ''Kings of the Roundhouse'' in strife-torn London in the 1970s; and '' The Dig'' in the 1930s. Will Adamsdale
Will Adamsdale (born 1974) is an English actor, comedian and writer. Adamsdale was educated at Eton College and the Oxford School of Drama. In 2004, he starred in a self-penned one man show called ''Jackson's Way'' at the Edinburgh Fringe. The intended run for the production was ten days, before the intervention of comedian Stewart Lee. Lee was so impressed by Adamsdale's work that he reportedly threw his full support behind ''Jackson's Way'', lobbying for an extension of the run and using his clout within the industry to garner notice from critics and award committees. Adamsdale secured the Perrier Comedy Award for comedy. Adamsdale has since created several new shows: ''The Receipt'', ''The Human Computer'', and ''The Summer House''. ITVX (formerly ITV Hub) is a British online video-on-demand service operated by ITV. The service offers predominantly features content from ITV1, as well as ITV Digital channels and some licensed content. The service was known as ITV Player from its inception until 2015. Ronald Kray (24 October 193317 March 1995) and Reginald Kray (24 October 19331 October 2000) were identical twin brothers, gangsters and convicted criminals. They were the foremost perpetrators of organised crime in the East End of London, England, from the late 1950s to 1967. With their gang, known as the Firm, the Kray twins were involved in murder, armed robbery, arson, protection rackets, gambling, and assaults. In the 1960s, as West End nightclub owners, the Kray twins mixed with politicians and prominent entertainers such as Diana Dors, Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. Royal Leamington Spa, commonly known as Leamington Spa or simply Leamington (), is a spa town and civil parish in Warwickshire, England.
