Doctor Stites
Doctor Stites was a delegate to Mississippi's 1868 constitutional convention and a state legislator in Mississippi. He was a trustee of Alcorn University. He was a party to the dispute between new and old trustees after a changing of the guard. He was one of about 17 African American delegates to Mississippi's 1868 constitutional convention, sixteen of them reported to have been from southern states. He was accused of being paid off to relinquish a promised appointment as sheriff. Gary Stites (born July 23, 1940) is an American pop singer who enjoyed brief success in the late 1950s. Stites is best remembered for his top 40 hit, "Lonely for You", which bore a significant sonic resemblance to the Conway Twitty song "It's Only Make Believe". Matt Stites
Matthew Steven Stites (born May 28, 1990) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched in Major League Baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014 and 2015. Career Amateur Stites attended Festus High School in Festus, Missouri. He then enrolled at Jefferson College, where he played for the college baseball team. He had a 9–2 win-loss record and a 1.69 earned run average (ERA) as a sophomore and was named a junior college All-American. In 2010, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. The Chicago Cubs selected Stites in the 33rd round, with the 1,000th overall selection, of the 2010 MLB draft. Richard Stites
Richard Stites (December 2, 1931 – March 7, 2010) was a historian of Russian culture and professor of history at Georgetown University, famed for "landmark work on the Russian women’s movement and in numerous articles and books on Russian and Soviet mass culture." Background Richard Thomas Stites was born on December 2, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA. He earned a BA in History from the University of Pennsylvania in 1956, and MA in European history from George Washington University in 1959, and a doctorate in Russian History in 1968 from Harvard University under Nicholas V. Stites, Idaho
Stites is a city in Idaho County, Idaho, United States. In the lower canyon of the South Fork of the Clearwater River, it is about four miles (6 km) upstream and south of Kooskia on State Highway 13. The population was 221 at the 2010 census, down from 226 in 2000. History Stites was named for Jacob Stites of New Jersey, who homesteaded the land in 1897 which became the city. He sold two years later and exercised his option to name it. Stites became the eastern terminus Northern Pacific branch line up the Clearwater in 1900, later the Camas Prairie Railroad's first subdivision line. It climbed the main river eastward from Lewiston to Kooskia and then turned south to ascend the lower South Fork. The abandoned spur was removed in the 1980s, and the city incorporated in early 1905. The original highway bridge (1911) that crossed the Salmon River just north of Riggins was replaced in 1936 and moved north to Stites. Geography Stites is located at (46.090, -115.976). ...

Stites House
The Stites House is a historic residence in the Columbia-Tusculum neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. History Built in 1835, it is a brick structure with a stone foundation and a shingled roof; its architecture is a mix of the Federal and Greek Revival styles. The house is composed of two portions: the front, which Hezekiah Stites constructed in 1835, and the large rear wing, which Hezekiah's son Charles added in 1867. The original section is Federal except for its Greek Revival entrance portico: it features typical Federal chimneys and attic windows on the gabled ends, and it is largely free of ornamental elements otherwise. Conversely, the rear wing includes components such as a Victorian porch. Overall, the Stites House is a well-preserved example of the Federal style and historically significant because of its great age.
