Stinnett ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Hutchinson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,881 at the 2010 census, a decrease from 1,936 at the 2000 census. History Stinnett was established in 1926 by A.P. (Ace) Borger, better known as the founder of Borger, a larger community in the county, and his brother Lester Andrew (Pete) Borger. In September 1926, Stinnett replaced Plemons, which later became a ghost town, as the Hutchinson County seat. The courthouse, built in 1927 in the Spanish Renaissance style, was financed from petroleum money. The structure, designed by the architect W.F. Townes, consists of brown brick and cut white stone. Stinnett is a town in Washburn County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 263 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Stanberry is located in the town, situated west of Hayward on County Highway M. The ghost town of Harmon was located in the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.7 square miles (92.3 km2), of which, 34.4 square miles (89.2 km2) of it is land and 1.2 square miles (3.2 km2) of it (3.42%) is water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 263 people, 100 households, and 69 families residing in the town. The population density was 7.6 people per square mile (2.9/km2). There were 133 housing units at an average density of 3.9 per square mile (1.5/km2). Murder Of Bobbie Jo Stinnett
Bobbie Jo Stinnett (December 4, 1981 – December 16, 2004) was an American 23-year-old pregnant woman who was murdered in Skidmore, Missouri in December 2004. The perpetrator, Lisa Marie Montgomery, then aged 36-years-old, strangled Stinnett to death and cut her fetus (eight months into gestation) from her womb. Montgomery was arrested in Kansas the next day and charged with kidnapping resulting in death – a federal crime. Stinnett's baby was safely recovered by authorities and returned to the father. Despite deep concerns over a lifetime of sexual and physical abuse from which she was never protected, and clear signs that she was deeply mentally ill, Montgomery was tried and found guilty in 2007. She was executed by lethal injection shortly after midnight on January 13, 2021, having exhausted the appeals process. Christina Stinnett (known as "Kiki") is a Micronesian Women's rights activist and businesswoman, who is the President of Chuuk Women's Council (CWC), which overlooks more than 60 women's organisations within Chuuk State in the Federated States of Micronesia. Career Stinnett established the first travel agency, Truk Travel Unlimited, in the state in March 1984 and owns the Truk Stop Hotel, along with the restaurant at Truk Lagoon Dive Center. The Chuuk Women's Council (CWC) was established in the late 1980s and attempts to educate and empower women on various women topics such as leadership, education and health, and preservation of culture. Sandra Sue Stinnett is an American statistician specializing in the biostatistics of ophthalmology. She is an associate professor in the departments of biostatistics and bioinformatics and of ophthalmology in the Duke University School of Medicine. After graduating in 1970, she began taking mathematics courses at the university (a topic not covered in her degree program) in order to improve her employment prospects. William "Willie" Eugene Stinnett III (born December 17, 1985) is a Guamanian basketball player. He is a point guard for the Guam national basketball team. High school and college Stinnett graduated from Father Dueñas Memorial School in Guam in 2004. He subsequently moved to the United States, where he played two seasons of college basketball for Wenatchee Valley College. His sophomore year was cut short after he sustained a season-ending injury in December 2005. He later played college basketball in the Philippines as well.
