Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg
Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg (19 April 1795 – 27 June 1876) was a German naturalist, zoologist, comparative anatomist, geologist, and microscopist. Ehrenberg was an evangelist and was considered to be of the most famous and productive scientists of his time. Early collections The son of a judge, Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg was born in Delitzsch, near Leipzig. He first studied theology at the University of Leipzig, then medicine and natural sciences in Berlin and became a friend of the famous explorer Alexander von Humboldt. In 1818, he completed his doctoral dissertation on fungi, ''Sylvae mycologicae Berolinenses.'' In 1820–1825, on a scientific expedition to the Middle East with his friend Wilhelm Hemprich, he collected thousands of specimens of plants and animals. He investigated parts of Egypt, the Libyan Desert, the Nile valley and the northern coasts of the Red Sea, where he made a special study of the corals. Subsequently, parts of Syria, Arabia and Abyss ...

Costasiella Ocellifera
''Costasiella ocellifera'' is a small (5-13 mm) species of sea slug, a shell-less marine gastropod mollusk in the family Costasiellidae. ''Costasiella ocellifera'', and other members of the Costasiellidae family are often mistakenly classified as nudibranchs because they superficially resemble other species of that group, but they are actually a part of the Sacoglossa superorder of sea slugs, also known as the “sap-sucking sea slugs,” "crawling leaves" or the "solar-powered sea slugs." ''C. ocellifera'' was discovered by Simroth in 1895, and was initially classified as ''Doto ocellifera''. The Brazilian species, ''Costasiella liliana,'' is a synonym of ''C. ocellifera''.''Costasiella ocellifera'' shows long-term retention of functional kleptoplasty. Etymology The name 'ocellifera' comes from the Latin word for eye, ''ocellus'' and the Latin word "ifer" which means "to carry" and is in reference to the blue eyespot found on the top of ''Costasiella ocellifera''’s head. ...

Alderia Modesta
''Alderia modesta'' is a species of sea slug, a marine (ocean), marine gastropod mollusc in the family Limapontiidae. It is found in estuarine habitats and saltmarshes on either side of the North Atlantic and the North Pacific Oceans. Description ''A. modesta'' grows to a length of about when fully expanded. The foot is broader than the body, and the sides and upper surface, apart for the front third, are covered with cerata (finger-like outgrowths). In young individuals these are organised in up to seven rows, but in adults, the rows are no longer apparent. The anus is set on a papilla on the upper surface near the rear. The integument is translucent, and the branching gut and digestive gland can be seen through the cerata and the surface of the foot. The cerata are involved in respiration and pulsate regularly; this helps move the blood around the body, there being no heart in this genus. The general colour of this sea slug is pale fawn, blotched with brown, green and white. ...
