Stig Grenov
Stig Grenov (born 15 March 1961 in Copenhagen) is a Danish teacher and politician. On 27 October 2012 he was elected the chairman for the Christian Democrats, with no opposing candidates. He stepped down in 2019 and Isabella Arendt became the party's new leader. Background Stig Grenov became a teacher in 1986, graduating from Hellerup Seminarium, with majors in math, physics, geography and history. Political career Grenov has been a member of the Christian Democrats since 1990. When Per Ørum Jørgensen left the party in 2012 Egon Jakobsen became the ad interim leader of the party. Grenov was then elected the official new leader on 27 October 2012. The Christian Democrats (Danish: ''Kristendemokraterne'') (KD) are a political party in Denmark. The party was founded in April 1970 as the Christian People's Party (''Kristeligt Folkeparti'') to oppose the liberalization of restrictions on pornography and the legalization of abortion. The party renamed itself to its current name in 2003. Originally, the party was not considered part of the European Christian-democratic tradition, and it was better known as a religious conservative party. Isabella Arendt
Isabella Arendt Laursen (born May 7 1993 in Fredericia) is a Danish politician who was the leader of the Christian Democrats from 2019 to 2022. Arendt lives in Copenhagen and is currently studying political science at Copenhagen University. Political career Arendt ran unsuccessfully for the Danish parliament, Folketinget, in the 2011 and 2015 elections. In both elections, the Christians won less than the 2% electoral threshold, and did not get any seats in the Folketing. After the 2011 election, she was briefly a member of the Danish Social Liberal Party. On 7 May 2019, Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen announced that the 2019 election would be held on 5 June. A debate with all the party chairmen, including Stig Grenov of the Christian Democrats, was set to take place the following evening. Hellerup () is a very affluent district of Gentofte Municipality in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The most urban part of the district is centred on Strandvejen and is bordered by Østerbro to the south and the Øresund to the east.
