Steve Jackson (rugby Union)
Steve Jackson (born 22 March 1973) is a New Zealand professional rugby union coach, who during his playing career played lock across multiple teams in the New Zealand Provincial Championship. He formerly worked as the head coach of the Samoan National rugby team from 2018 to 2020. He attended High School at Waitākere College. Career Playing As a player Steve Jackson, represented NZ Under-17 in 1990, NZ Secondary Schools in 1991, NZ Under-19 in 1992 and toured Australia with the NZ Maoris in 2002. He enjoyed a long-playing career as a lock playing NPC for North Harbour, Tasman and Captained Southland in 2002–03. Coaching He moved into coaching initially back in his roots in West Auckland with the Massey club which he guided to back-to-back club titles before moving to Nelson where he won a championship with the Marist club. Fuimaono Faleomavaega Titimaea "Dicky" Tafua (born 4 October 1947) is a Samoan former rugby union prop and the former coach of Manu Samoa and the Samoa Sevens rugby team. In November 2021 he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Samoa. He is the son of former MP Tafua Kalolo and the brother of former MP Tafua Maluelue Tafua. He took up the position of coach in 2006. He is a former international for Samoa and captained the first Samoa team that played against Wales in 1989. He led Samoa to win their first Wellington sevens and Hong Kong sevens tournament in the 2006/07 season. Ranfurly Shield
The Ranfurly Shield, colloquially known as the Log o' Wood, is a trophy in New Zealand's domestic rugby union competition. First played for in 1904, the Shield is based on a challenge system. The holding union must defend the shield in challenge matches, which are usually played at the shield holders home venue, and if the challenger is successful in their challenge they will become the new holder of the Shield. There is a tradition for the first challenges of a new rugby season to be played against smaller associations from the Heartland Championship Although the professional era of rugby has seen other competitions, such as the NPC and Super Rugby, detracting from the pre-eminence of the Ranfurly Shield, many used to regard it as the greatest prize in New Zealand domestic rugby .
