Steve Dawson (Canadian Musician)
Steve Dawson is a Canadian guitarist, singer, and music producer. Dawson has produced albums by Jim Byrnes, Kelly Joe Phelps, Old Man Luedecke, The Sojourners, and The Deep Dark Woods. He has won two Juno Awards. He frequently collaborates with keyboardist Chris Gestrin, bassist Keith Lowe and drummer Georr Hicks. He has been a member of the duo Zubot & Dawson, and of the group The Great Uncles of the Revolution. Career In 2001, Dawson came together with Jesse Zubot, Kevin Turcotte, and Andrew Downing to release an album, ''Great Uncles of the Revolution Stand Up!'', which won a Western Music Award. In 2002, The Great Uncles of the Revolution performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and were presented with the Grand Prix de Jazz de Montreal. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal ( en, Montreal International Jazz Festival) is an annual jazz festival held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Montreal Jazz Fest holds the 2004 Guinness World Record as the world's largest jazz festival. Great Uncles of the Revolution is a Canadian band that consists of Jesse Zubot, a violinist/mandolinist, and Steve Dawson, a guitarist/dobro player. Jesse Zubot
Jesse Zubot (of Britannia Beach, British Columbia) is a Canadian musician primarily known for his unique violin playing. Zubot also works as a composer, producer and recording engineer. History Zubot's acoustic-instrumental group Zubot and Dawson won a Juno Award in 2003 for Roots & Traditional Group Album of the Year. Zubot was also a member of 2004 Juno Award-winning group Great Uncles of the Revolution. Weissenborn
Weissenborn or H. Weissenborn is a brand of lap slide guitar manufactured by Hermann Weissenborn in Los Angeles in the 1920s and 1930s. These instruments are now highly sought after, and form the base for most non-resonator acoustic lap steel guitars currently produced. It is estimated that fewer than 5,000 original instruments were produced, and it is unknown how many now survive. The signature feature of Weissenborn guitars is the hollow neck, effectively a highly adapted body chamber that runs the entire length of the body, making conventional playing completely impossible.
