Stella Oyella (born 8 February 1990) is an Ugandan netball player who represents Uganda internationally and plays in the position of goal attack. She has represented Uganda at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and also competed at two World Cup tournaments in 2015 and in 2019. In September 2019, she was included in the Ugandan squad for the 2019 African Netball Championships The 2019 African Netball Championships was held in Cape Town from 18-23 October 2019. The Uganda national netball team represent Uganda in international netball. In line with other women's representative sports teams in Uganda, the netball team are known as the "She-Cranes". Uganda are currently ranked seventh in the INF World Rankings. History World Cups Uganda qualified through to the 2015 World Cup after qualifying via the African system where they defeated Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland and Botswana along the way to finish on top of Africa and making it through to their first World Cup since the 5th edition which was held in Trinidad and Tobago. 2015 Netball World Cup
The Netball World Cup Sydney 2015 (NWC2015) was the 14th edition of the INF Netball World Cup, the premier competition in international netball. It was held from 7–16 August, in Sydney, Australia, which secured hosting rights after defeating a rival bid from Manchester, England. Matches were played at Allphones Arena and Netball Central. Sixteen nations competed at the championships, including the top six teams from the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore. After two rounds in which teams competed in pools of four, Australia, New Zealand, England and Jamaica contested the semi-finals. 2019 Netball World Cup
The 2019 Netball World Cup (also known as the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 15th edition of the INF Netball World Cup. It was held from 12–21 July 2019 at the Liverpool Arena in Liverpool, England with matches being held on two courts. Host nation England finished their campaign with a bronze medal. New Zealand became 5th time champions after beating Australia in the final and gold medal match. Sixteen nations contested for the title, which included the top six of the previous tournament which was held in Sydney, Australia. After two group stage rounds, Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa all made it to the semi-finals. In a rematch of the 2015 final, New Zealand would take home their fifth title after defeating Australia by one goal. England finished in third place, after defeating South Africa. 2019 African Netball Championships
The 2019 African Netball Championships was held in Cape Town from 18-23 October 2019. The tournament featured seven nations including hosts South Africa, defending champions Uganda along with Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Lesotho and Zimbabwe in 2 pool categories. Tanzania pulled out of the tournament due to financial issues, just a day before the tournament opener against Zimbabwe. The tournament was originally supposed to have its scheduled opening match between defending champions Uganda and Zimbabwe but was called off due to the last minute withdrawal by Tanzania. The authorities later revealed that the match between hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe to be the opening match of the tournament while the tournament was later modified with round robin format.
