Steinfeld, Bavaria
Steinfeld () is a community in the Main-Spessart district in the ''Regierungsbezirk'' of Lower Franconia (''Unterfranken'') in Bavaria, Germany and a member of the ''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'' (Administrative Community) of Lohr am Main. Spoken here is an East Franconian dialect (according to the Language Atlas of the Bavarian Library, Lower East Franconian). The inhabitants are often called ''Steeflder Russe'' in the local area. Geography Location Steinfeld lies between Lohr am Main and Karlstadt on the ''Fränkische Platte'' (a flat, mostly agricultural region), in the zone where the geology changes from bunter- to Muschelkalk-based. The greater part of the municipal area is even today used for agriculture. Furthermore, the community also manages considerable woodlands, being in the outermost foothills of the Spessart, which borders on the west. Steinfeld, South Australia
Steinfeld (formerly Stonefield) is a locality in South Australia on the plains east of the Mount Lofty Ranges, and north of the Sturt Highway. The village of Steinfeld was established in the 19th century. It was renamed to Stonefield in 1918 as many List of Australian place names changed from German names, places with German or German-sounding names were changed around World War I. The name reverted to Steinfeld in 1986. The Steinfeld Lutheran congregation was established in 1882, and met in a home until it built its own building in 1890. The congregation met in this building until November 2016. A Lutheran school existed from the 1880s until 1917, when it was forcibly closed by the state government as a result of World War I. It was replaced by a public school in 1917, which operated until 1969. Franz Steinfeld
Franz Steinfeld (26 March 1787 – 5 November 1868) was an Austrian landscape painter. He is often referred to as "The Younger", to distinguish him from his father, also named Franz (1750-1832), who was a sculptor. Life and work Steifeld was born on 26 March 1787 in Vienna. He initially studied sculpting with his father but, at the suggestion of the engraver, Francesco Vasanova (1727-1802), he was enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. There, he studied with Laurenz Janscha, and Albert Christoph Dies. In 1805, he went on a study trip to the Rheinlands and the Netherlands, where he was attracted to the works of Jacob van Ruisdael. In 1815, he married Dorothea Fertbauer; from a family of artists. Her brother, Leopold (1802-1875), was a history painter. Their son, Wilhelm (1816-1854), also became an artist. Harry M. Steinfeldt (September 29, 1875 – August 17, 1914) was an American professional baseball player. A third baseman, Steinfeldt played in Major League Baseball for the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Rustlers. He batted and threw right-handed. Steinfeldt was the starting third baseman for the Cubs in the final game of the 1908 World Series, the team's last championship until their victory in 2016. He was the fourth infielder on a team that gained fame for a double-play combination of "Tinker to Evers to Chance."
