Stefan Schmidt (born 7 November 1975) is a retired Danish professional footballer. Generally playing a defensive midfielder and central midfielder role, Schmidt was a midfield workhorse with a strong tackle and good technical and passing skills. His long range shooting ability has earned him quite a few goals. Biography Schmidt signed his first contract, when he was brought to Danish 1st Division club Næstved BK from lower league club Holbæk B&IF in the summer 1996. He played 30 games for the club, and was brought to Aarhus GF (AGF) under manager Peter Rudbæk in August 1997. He played his only game in his two years at AGF, in the top-flight Danish Superliga championship on 29 August 1997. A recurring knee injury kept him from playing, and in July 1998 he suffered a bout of salmonella. When he recovered, Schmidt was loaned out to his youth club Holbæk B&IF in the Danish 2nd Division from October 1998 and the year out, when his AGF contract would be mutually terminated. ... Most forms of football have a move known as a tackle. The primary purposes of tackling are to dispossess an opponent of the ball, to stop the player from gaining ground towards goal or to stop them from carrying out what they intend. In professional association football, a free transfer, also known as a Bosman transfer, involves a professional association football club releasing a player when the player's contract has expired or made available just before the end of the contract. The player can then go on to sign for any club offering a contract to them. The Danish Cup ( da, Landspokalturneringen; often referred to as Pokalen) is the official "knockout" cup competition in Danish football, run by the Danish Football Association. The cup has been contested annually since 1955. The winner will qualify for the UEFA Europa League tournament the following year, where they (as of the 2009–10 season) will enter in the third qualifying round. Rasmus Østergaard Würtz (born 18 September 1983) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He won the 2008–09 Danish Superliga with F.C. Copenhagen. The 2nd Division ( da, Danmarksturneringens 2. division or Herre-DM 2. division) is a semi-professional association football league for men and the third division in Denmark. It is organised by the Divisionsforeningen on behalf of the Danish Football Association (Danish FA; DBU) as part of the nation-wide Danmarksturneringen i fodbold (Herre-DM) and is positioned between the second-tier 1st Division and the fourth-tier Danish 3rd Division in the Danish football league system. In sports, a loan involves a particular player being able to temporarily play for a club other than the one to which they are currently contracted. Loan deals may last from a few weeks to a full season, sometimes persisting for multiple seasons at a time. The Danish Superliga ( da, Superligaen, ) is the current Danish football championship tournament, and administered by the Danish Football Association. It is the highest football league in Denmark and is currently contested by 12 teams each year, with two teams relegated.
