"Stay the Night" is a song by Swedish pop group Alcazar. The song was an entry in Melodifestivalen 2009 for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, where it reached the 14 March final at Globen Arena after a public televote. Having placed third with the regional juries and 4th in the televote, the song finished fifth overall. "Stay the Night" is the third single on Alcazar's 2009 album ''Disco Defenders''. Commercial performance The song made its debut on the Swedish Singles Chart at number 33 on 6 March 2009 and peaked at number two the next week. The song charted for 17 weeks. The song also charted on the Swedish Airplay Chart, peaking at number one for four weeks. Alcazar (band)
Alcazar is a Swedish nu-disco group. Alcazar is one of Sweden's most successful music groups both nationally and internationally with a string of hits since their debut single in 1999. Worldwide, Alcazar sold over 12 million records between 2001 and 2004. Alcazar also had success globally in 2000 with their song "Crying at the Discoteque", having charted in USA, Brazil, Australia, Japan and most countries in Europe. Alcazar disbanded in August 2011 after a concert at Stockholm Pride. They reunited again in 2013 ahead of Melodifestivalen 2014. The Eurovision Song Contest 2009 was the 54th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Melodifestivalen 2009 was a Sweden, Swedish song contest held between February and March 2009. It was the selection for the 49th song to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest, and was the 48th edition of Melodifestivalen. Five heats were held in the Swedish cities of Gothenburg, Skellefteå, Leksand and Malmö, with Norrköping hosting the final ''Andra Chansen'' round. After the five heats 11 songs had qualified to the final of the contest, contested in the Swedish capital of Stockholm, at the Ericsson Globe, Globe Arena.
