Statoil Corruption Case
The Statoil corruption case, also known as the Statoil-Horton case (Norwegian: Statoils Horton-sak) refers to Norwegian oil company Statoil’s misconduct and extensive use of bribery in Iran between 2002 and 2003, in an attempt to secure lucrative oil contracts for the company in that country. This was mainly achieved by hiring the services of Horton Investments, an Iranian consultancy firm owned by Mehdi Hashemi Rafsanjani, son of former Iranian President Hashemi Rafsanjani. Horton Investments was paid US$15.2 million by Statoil to influence important political figures in Iran to grant oil contracts to Statoil. The corruption scandal was uncovered by Norwegian paper ''Dagens Næringsliv'' on September 3, 2003. Norwegian Language
Norwegian ( no, norsk, links=no ) is a North Germanic language spoken mainly in Norway, where it is an official language. South Pars Gas Field
The South Pars/North Dome field is a natural-gas condensate field located in the Persian Gulf. It is by far the world's largest natural gas field, IEA, World Energy Outlook 2008 - Chapter 12 - Natural gas resources and production prospects, p.298 with ownership of the field shared between Iran and Qatar. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the field holds an estimated of in-situ natural gas and some of natural gas condensates. Helge Lund (born 16 October 1962) is a Norwegian businessman who has been chairman of BP since January 2019, and chairman of the Danish healthcare company Novo Nordisk since 2018. He is the former chief executive officer (CEO) of BG Group, Statoil and Aker Kværner, and was a director of Schlumberger from June 2016 to April 2018. Bribery is the offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official, or other person, in charge of a public or legal duty. Olav Fjell
Olav Fjell (born 28 June 1951) is a Norwegian businessperson. He was the chief executive officer (CEO) of Statoil from 1999 to 2003, and of Hurtigruten from 2007 to 2012. Career Fjell has a siv.øk. degree from the Norwegian School of Economics in 1975 as well as education from the Royal Norwegian Army. His career started as an accountant at Kongsberg Vaabenfabrik in 1975 where he stayed until 1987, by which time he had become vice president. He had a continual employment in Bergen Bank, Den norske Bank and finally as CEO of Postbanken until he was hired as CEO of Statoil in 1999. Leif Terje Løddesøl
Leif Terje Løddesøl (24 April 1935 – 18 November 2021) was a Norwegian businessperson. He was born in Oslo as a son of Aasulv Løddesøl (1896–1978) and Liv Marie Bjørlykke (1905–1994). He has been married twice. He graduated from the University of Oslo with the cand.jur. degree in 1960, and studied further, among others at the Hague Academy of International Law and the College of Europe in Brussels.
