State Of Idaho Executive Residence
The State of Idaho has been without an official governor's residence since 2013. Pierce House, in Boise's North End at 1805 N. 21st Street, served that role from 1947 to 1989. From 2009 until 2013, the former home of billionaire agribusiness magnate J. R. Simplot (1909–2008) and his wife Esther Simplot, served as the governor's official residence, although the house remained unoccupied; during this period, it was officially known as Idaho House. Citing upkeep costs, the state returned the house to the Simplot family in 2013; it was demolished in January 2016, although its substantial flagpole remains. The ''San Francisco Chronicle'' is a newspaper serving primarily the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It was founded in 1865 as ''The Daily Dramatic Chronicle'' by teenage brothers Charles de Young and M. H. de Young, Michael H. de Young. Lori Otter (née Easley; born January 4, 1967) is an American educator, author, and former beauty queen who served as First Lady of Idaho from 2007 to 2019. Otter is married to the former Governor of Idaho, C. L. "Butch" Otter. She was crowned Miss Idaho USA in 1991. Career Otter won the Miss Idaho USA title in 1991 and represented Idaho in the Miss USA 1991 pageant broadcast live from Wichita, Kansas in February 1991. The 2002 Idaho gubernatorial election was held on November 5, 2002 to select the governor of the state of Idaho. 2006 Idaho Gubernatorial Election
The 2006 Idaho gubernatorial election was held on November 7, 2006. Incumbent Governor Jim Risch succeeded Dirk Kempthorne, who resigned May 26 to become Secretary of the Interior. Risch served as governor until the end of the term, but had committed to a reelection campaign for Lieutenant Governor before Kempthorne's appointment and subsequent resignation. The J. R. Simplot Company (commonly referred to as Simplot) is an agribusiness company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. History Simplot was founded in 1929 by 20-year-old John Richard Simplot near the agricultural community of Declo in south central Idaho, United States. During the early 1940s, the business expanded, providing the military dehydrated onions and potatoes during World War II. The firm was incorporated as the J. R. Simplot Company in 1955. Simplot made billions from the commercialization of frozen French fries by one of its scientists, chemist Ray L. Dunlap. By the early 1970s, it was the primary supplier of French fries to McDonald's. By 2005 it supplied more than half of all French fries for the fast food chain. Butch Otter
Clement Leroy "Butch" Otter (born May 3, 1942) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 32nd governor of Idaho from 2007 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected in 2006, and reelected in 2010, and 2014. Otter served as lieutenant governor from 1987 to 2001 and in U.S. Congress from the first district from 2001 to 2007. James Elroy Risch ( ; born May 3, 1943) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the junior United States senator from Idaho since 2009. A member of the Republican Party, he served as lieutenant governor of Idaho under governors Dirk Kempthorne and Butch Otter and as the 31st governor of Idaho from 2006 to 2007. Raised in Milwaukee, Risch moved to Idaho in the early 1960s. After graduating from the University of Idaho, he received a B.S. degree in forestry in 1965 and earned a J.D. in 1968. Dirk Arthur Kempthorne (born October 29, 1951) is an American politician who served as the 49th United States Secretary of the Interior from 2006 to 2009 under President George W. Bush. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as a United States Senator from Idaho from 1993 to 1999 and the 30th governor of Idaho from 1999 to 2006.
