''Starting Point'' (formerly ''Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien'') is a morning television show on CNN anchored by Soledad O'Brien. The show aired from January 2012 to June 2013. Together with the program ''Early Start'' (4.00–6.00 a.m. weekdays), it replaced ''American Morning'', which ran from September 2001 to December 2011, under a variety of presenters. ''Starting Point'' was itself replaced by '' New Day'' in June 2013, which is broadcast from 6.00–9.00 a.m. daily. Format CNN described the show as a "conversational ensemble" with O'Brien at its center. It was broadcast from CNN's studios in New York City, but had also broadcast in various diners around the United States. Frequent panelists included Will Cain, Margaret Hoover, and Roland S. ''Starting Point'' is a 2015 Polish Short film, short-documentary film, directed by Michal Szczesniak, who also co-authored the script with Katarzyna Bonda. Cinematography was by Przemysław Niczyporuk, and was co-produced by Munk Studio- SFP and Studio Filmowe N. Michał Szczęśniak. The film was shortlisted with ten other documentaries, from 74 entries, submitted to the 88th Academy Awards in Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject), Documentary Short Subject category. The final five nominations were scheduled to be announced on January 14, 2016. The plot follows a woman, Aneta, who was sentenced to prison at the age of 19 for murder, and after nine years, behind bars, begins working as a caregiver for the elderly. Her new job takes her outside of prison, where she meets Helena who is diagnosed with rheumatism. A Starting Point
A Starting Point is a website, launched in 2020, devoted to presenting videos by elected officials (current or former), presenting various points of view on issues that are of interest to the United States electorate. It was started by Chris Evans (actor), Chris Evans, Mark Kassen, and Joe Kiani. Since starting this project in 2017, Evans et al have been able to engage dozens of elected officials to create videos on a plethora of topics; the draw for the speakers is that, unlike when being interviewed by a journalist, they can speak their minds without being attacked for their points of view. The basic idea is to encourage civic engagement of the electorate by allowing politicians in office to present their points of view in a civil manner, and start dialogs which will encourage bipartisanship. Starting Point Directory is a human edited general web directory that provides websites organized by topic. The search results displayed to the user require an annual subscription fee is required. Search results are bracketed with Google AdSense advertisements. In 2006, the directory was sold to a new owner and was re-launched as a human edited directory. Starting Point Directory employs paid editors that review each site and apply a set of quality guidelines to each listing.
