The Donetsk Oblast ( ukr, Донецька область, Donetska oblast, ), also referred to as Donechchyna ( ukr, Донеччина, links=no), is an oblast of eastern Ukraine. It is Ukraine's most populous province, with around 4.1 million residents. Its administrative centre is Donetsk; however, its Regional State Administration has been temporarily relocated to Kramatorsk because of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. Novomaiorske
Novomaiorske ( uk, Новомайорське; russian: link=no, Новомайорское) is a village in Volnovakha Raion ( district) in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about southwest by west of the centre of Donetsk city. It belongs to Staromlynivka rural hromada, one of the ''hromada''s of Ukraine. History The village came under attack and was occupied by Russian forces in 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and was regained by Ukrainian forces by the beginning of August the same year. On 5 September 2023, during the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive, Ukrainian marine units of 37th Marine Brigade supported by artillery and armored vehicles advanced from north and successfully forded the Shaitanka river, suffering no losses. A few days later they captured the first houses on the outskirts of the village pushing Russian brigades of 37th Rifle, 40th Naval and DPR units back to at least the center of the settlement. Novodonetske (; ) is a rural settlement in the Volnovakha Raion, Donetsk Oblast ( province) of eastern Ukraine. History The village was occupied by Russian forces during the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. On 5 September 2023, during the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive, after several days of artillery preparations the Ukrainian Armed Forces made an attempt to break through Russian defense lines north of the village, using a large number of armored vehicles. The 37th Separate Marine Brigade made an amphibious landing across the Shaitanka river, and struck directly at the Russian fortifications. Kliuchove () is a rural-type settlement in Staromlynivka rural hromada, Volnovakha Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. Geography The settlement is located on the banks of the Mokri Yaly river. The dam for a reservoir on the river is located in Kliuchove. History Before 2020, Kliuchove was administratively part of Velyka Novosilka Raion. Since 17 July 2020, the settlement has been part of Staromlynivka rural hromada, Volnovakha Raion. In March 2022, the village was occupied by Russia during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On 11 June 2023, the dam of the reservoir on the river was reportedly blown up by Russia. Volnovakha Raion ( uk, Волноваський район, ) is one of the 18 administrative raions (a ''district'') of Donetsk Oblast, located in southeastern Ukraine.
