''Star'' is the third studio album from American R&B group 702. It was released by Motown on November 19, 2002 in the United States. The album peaked at number forty-five on the US ''Billboard'' 200 and produced the singles “Star” and "I Still Love You". Critical reception Andy Kellman of Allmusic rated the album two and a half stars out of five and gave the work a rather dismissive review, stating that "it continues in the group's tradition of being able to deliver a couple of solid singles surrounded by middling to fair album tracks." ''PopMatters'' thought the album was dated and "trapped in a time warp" and that "It wants to be pre- Mary J. Blige hip-hop and R&B with some notable exceptions". Overall, they praised both Mario Winans and the Neptunes contributions to the album, and felt they managed "to create some haphazard hits here, lack of creativity aside". 702 (pronounced ''"Seven-Oh-Two"''), named after the area code of their hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, is an American girl group, with the final and most known line-up consisting of Kameelah Williams and sisters Irish and LeMisha Grinstead. The group was originally a quartet featuring the Grinstead sisters, which included identical twins Irish and Orish (born June 2, 1980, in Houston, TX), their older sister LeMisha (born June 10, 1978, in Houston, TX), and Amelia Childs whom they debuted as featured artists on Subway's hit single "This Lil' Game We Play". Amelia and Orish were removed from the group due to Mike Bivins not favoring their voices and were briefly replaced by classmates Tiffany Villarreal and Kameelah Williams. The Neptunes are an American songwriting and production duo composed of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, formed in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1992. Claydes "Charles" Smith (real name ''Claydes Eugene Smith''; September 6, 1948 – June 20, 2006) was an American musician best known as co-founder and lead guitarist of the group Kool & the Gang. Biography Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was introduced to jazz guitar by his father in the early 1960s.
