It is a daily guide to the night sky and breaking astronomical news. Typically heard without formal introduction, ''StarDate'' is a self-contained science news feature interwoven with routine radio programming. Deborah Byrd
Deborah Byrd (born March 1, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas) is an American science journalist. She is editor-in-chief of EarthSky, which presents science news and night sky information. The website served more than 21 million users in 2019, according to Google Analytics. Early life On March 1, 1951, Byrd was born in San Antonio, Texas. Byrd's father was Kenneth Byrd, a long-time editor of the now-defunct San Antonio Light. Her mother, Rosetta Schroeder Byrd, was a painter. Career With Joel Block, Byrd created the internationally syndicated ''Earth & Sky'' radio series in 1991. She served as executive producer and cohost of the daily radio series until 2013, when the radio series ended (although the website continued). McDonald Observatory
McDonald Observatory is an astronomical observatory located near unincorporated community of Fort Davis in Jeff Davis County, Texas, United States. The facility is located on Mount Locke in the Davis Mountains of West Texas, with additional facilities on Mount Fowlkes, approximately to the northeast. The observatory is part of The University of Texas at Austin. It is an organized research unit of the College of Natural Sciences. ''Star Gazers'' (formerly known as ''Jack Horkheimer: Star Hustler'' and later ''Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer'') is a short astronomy show on American public television previously hosted by Jack Horkheimer, executive director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium. After his death in 2010, a series of guest astronomers hosted until 2011, when Dean Regas, James Albury, and Marlene Hidalgo became permanent co-hosts. In 2019, Dean Regas and James Albury stepped down from the program and were replaced by Trace Dominguez. The Sky At Night
''The Sky at Night'' is a monthly documentary television programme on astronomy produced by the BBC. The show had the same permanent presenter, Sir Patrick Moore, from its first broadcast on 24 April 1957 until 7 January 2013. The latter date was a posthumous broadcast, following Moore's death on 9 December 2012. This made it the longest-running programme with the same presenter in television history. Many early episodes are missing, either because the tapes were wiped or thrown out, or because the episode was broadcast live and never recorded in the first place. Beginning with the 3 February 2013 edition, the show was co-presented by Lucie Green and Chris Lintott. Since December 2013 Maggie Aderin-Pocock has also been a presenter.
