Stanford Cardinal Women's Volleyball
The Stanford Cardinal women's volleyball team represents Stanford University in the Pac-12 Conference. They are currently led by head coach Kevin Hambly and play their home games at Maples Pavilion. The team has won nine NCAA national championships, the most of all time, and 21 regular season conference titles. They have finished as national runner-up eight times and appeared in the first 39 NCAA tournaments, failing to qualify for the postseason for the first time during the 2020–2021 season. In January 2017, John Dunning retired as head coach of Stanford volleyball. The school named Kevin Hambly as the new head coach. Hambly came from the University of Illinois and 2017 was his first season with the Cardinal. Kevin Hambly
Kevin Hambly (born March 12, 1973) is an American volleyball coach. He previously coached at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (2009–2017). Coaching his first team to a 26–6 record, he had reached at least the Sweet Sixteen or better in each of his team's appearances at the NCAA Tournament. On 30 January 2017, he accepted a job as head coach of the Stanford volleyball team, replacing John Dunning after he retired. Personal life Hambly was born in Simi Valley, California, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism with an emphasis in sports management in 2006. He is married to Mary Coleman Hambly, who is both a former player (1995–98) and former assistant coach (2004–06) at Illinois. Kevin and Mary have two children, Joseph and Maura Hambly. Jenna Gray
Jenna Gray is an American professional volleyball player who completed her collegiate career at Stanford University. She currently plays for Minas Tenis Clube. Early years Gray was born to Brian and Debbie Gray and grew up in Shawnee, Kansas. She grew up as part of a very athletic family. Her father played collegiate baseball at the University of Kansas, while her mother ran track at Kansas State. Her older sister, Rachel, played volleyball at the University of Virginia. A cousin, Riley Pint, was a baseball pitcher who became a first-round draft choice by the Colorado Rockies in 2016. Gray played volleyball throughout all four years while attending St. James Academy High School, as well as earning two varsity letters in track and field competing in javelin. Pac-10 Conference
The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference, that operates in the Western United States, participating in 24 sports at the NCAA Division I level. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the highest level of college football in the nation. Alix Klineman
Alexandra Rose "Alix" Klineman (born December 30, 1989) is an American beach volleyball, 2020 Summer Olympics gold medalist, and former indoor volleyball player. In high school she was the 2006 Gatorade National Player of the Year. She was a four-time All-American in volleyball at Stanford University, and the 2010 ''Volleyball Magazine'' national player of the year. She won a bronze medal with Team USA at the 2011 Pan American Games. Switching to beach volleyball, she was named part of the 2018 Association of Volleyball Professionals Team of the Year (along with April Ross), and individually honored with the 2018 and 2019 Best Blocker awards. Kristin Klein
Kristin Klein Keefe ( Kristin Magdalen Klein; born March 20, 1970, in Santa Monica, California) is an American retired volleyball player who played as an outside hitter. She represented the United States national team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, finishing in seventh place. Klein played as a member of the United States B-team at the 1991 Pan American Games. She also played at the 1991 Summer Universiade, where she won a bronze medal. Klein joined the United States national team in August 1992. In 1995, she won a silver medal at the Pan American Games. The 1996 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began with 48 teams and ended on December 21, 1996, when Stanford defeated Hawaii 3 games to 0 in the NCAA championship match. Stanford's win over Hawaii for the title was, and remains, one of the most lopsided finals in NCAA championship history. Stanford won 15-7, 15-3, 15-5. Kerri Walsh Jennings
Kerri Lee Walsh Jennings (born August 15, 1978) is an American professional beach volleyball player, three-time Olympic gold medalist, and a one-time Olympic bronze medalist. She is the beach volleyball leader in career victories as of 2016 having won 135 international and domestic tournaments. Walsh Jennings and teammate Misty May-Treanor were the gold medalists in beach volleyball at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Morgan Irene Hentz (born July 27, 1998) is an American professional volleyball player who plays as a Libero (volleyball), libero for the United States women's national volleyball team. Early life Hentz was born to Mike and Kerin Hentz and grew up in Lakeside Park, Kentucky, Lakeside Park, Kentucky. She is the oldest of four siblings.
