Stamp Catalog
A stamp catalog (or stamp catalogue) is a catalog of postage stamp types with descriptions and prices. The stamp catalog is an essential tool of philately and stamp collecting. Stamp catalogs are part of philatelic literature. Similar catalogs of other collectible objects. such as matchboxes (phillumeny) and postcards (deltiology), have also been issued. History The first stamp catalog was published in France by Oscar Berger-Levrault on 17 September 1861 and the first illustrated catalog by Alfred Potiquet in December 1861 (based on the earlier work). The first catalogs in Great Britain were published in 1862 by Frederick Booty,Phillips, Stanley. Scott Catalog
The Scott catalogue of postage stamps, published by Scott Publishing Company, now a subsidiary of Amos Media, is updated annually and lists all the stamps of the world that its editors recognize as issued for postal purposes. It is published in fourteen large volumes (as of 2021) that include twelve volumes containing all the countries of the world that have ever issued postage stamps, the ''United States Specialized Catalog'', and the ''1840–1940 Classic Specialized Catalogue'' (covering the world for the first 100 years that stamps were issued). It is also produced in non-printable CD and DVD editions. The numbering system used by Scott to identify stamps is dominant among stamp collectors in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Zumstein Catalog
The Zumstein catalog is a postage stamp catalog from Switzerland. It has been issued regularly since 1909 and is considered to be an important reference work of Swiss philately. It is published in German and French languages. The catalog is produced by the Swiss company Zumstein & Cie in Bern. The Sakura catalog is an illustrated full-color Japanese stamp catalog. The Japanese Stamp Catalog Illustrated in Colors ( ja, 原色日本切手図鑑, genshoku-Nippon-kitte-zukan) (now ''Sakura Catalogue of Japanese Stamps'' ( ja, さくら日本切手カタログ, sakura-Nippon-kitte-katarogu)) was first published in October 1967 with full-color illustrations, which surprised the philatelic world since a colored stamp catalog had never been thought of. Regarded as the most reliable and popular publication in Japan, it goes through fifteen editions in 1979, and more than 4,500,000 copies have been released in all. JB Catalogue
''The J.B. Catalogue of Malta Stamps and Postal History'' is Malta's leading stamp catalogue. It was first published in 1984 and is published bi-annually by Joseph Buttigieg of Sliema Stamp Shop. It is currently in its twenty-second edition (2014). The catalogue originally used the SG numbering system, but from the early 1990s it had separate numbering.
