Stadionul Tudor Vladimirescu (other)
Stadionul Tudor Vladimirescu is a multi-purpose stadium in Târgu Jiu, Romania. It serves as the home ground of Viitorul Târgu Jiu. The facility can also be used for a variety of other activities such as track and field and concerts. The stadium replaced the former Stadionul Tudor Vladimirescu, being also named for Wallachian hero Tudor Vladimirescu. It was opened on 25 October 2019 when Gorj County native Constantina Diță cut the ribbon on new stadium. UEFA Elite Stadium
UEFA stadium categories are categories for football stadiums laid out in UEFA's Stadium Infrastructure Regulations. Using these regulations, stadiums are rated as category one, two, three, or four (renamed from elite) in ascending ranking order. These categories replaced the previous method of ranking stadiums on one to five star scale in 2006. A stadium must be rated as category four in order to host games in the playoffs of the qualifying stage for the UEFA Champions League, or any game in the main competition. Category four is also required to host any game in the main competition of the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League, UEFA Nations League or the UEFA European Championship final tournament. Târgu Jiu
Târgu Jiu () is the capital of Gorj County in the Oltenia region of Romania. It is situated on the Southern Sub-Carpathians, on the banks of the river Jiu. Eight localities are administered by the city: Bârsești, Drăgoieni, Iezureni, Polata, Preajba Mare, Romanești, Slobozia and Ursați. The city is noted for the Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brâncuși. History The city takes its name from the river Jiu, which runs through it. Asociația Clubul Sportiv Viitorul Pandurii Târgu Jiu, commonly known as Viitorul Pandurii Târgu Jiu or Viitorul Târgu Jiu, is a Romanian football club from Târgu Jiu, Gorj County, currently playing in the Liga II. Stadionul Tudor Vladimirescu was a multi-purpose stadium in Târgu Jiu, Romania. It was mostly used for football matches and was the home ground of Pandurii Târgu Jiu. It was named after Wallachian hero Tudor Vladimirescu. The stadium hosted the Romanian Cup Final of the 2008-2009 season. Tudor Vladimirescu (; c. 1780 – ) was a Romanian revolutionary hero, the leader of the Wallachian uprising of 1821 and of the Pandur militia. He is also known as Tudor din Vladimiri (''Tudor from Vladimiri'') or, occasionally, as Domnul Tudor (''Voivode Tudor''). Background Tudor was born in Vladimiri, Gorj County (in the region of Oltenia) in a family of landed peasants ('' mazili''); his birth year is usually given as 1780, but this is still debated. Constantina Diță
Constantina Diță (formerly Constantina Diță-Tomescu born on January 23, 1970, in Turburea, Gorj County), is a Romanian long-distance runner, who specializes mainly in the half marathon and marathon. She was the marathon gold medallist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, having previously won a bronze medal at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics. She also represented her country at the Olympics in 2000 and 2004. She has a marathon best of 2:21:30 hours. She was the champion at the 2005 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships – the first Romanian to win that honour. She was the 2004 Chicago Marathon winner.
