Stoke-on-Trent (often abbreviated to Stoke) is a city and Unitary authorities of England, unitary authority area in Staffordshire, England, with an area of . Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy
Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy, a.k.a. OSSMA (formerly Blurton High School) is a mixed secondary school with academy status located in the Blurton area of Stoke on Trent Staffordshire, England. The school is named after the English footballer Sir Stanley Matthews and is sponsored by Ormiston Academies Trust. Established in 2010, OSSMA was one of the first schools in Stoke-on-Trent to gain academy status and in January 2013 moved into a brand new building. Stoke-on-Trent College is a provider of further and higher education based in Stoke-on-Trent. The college has two campuses: one, called Cauldon Campus, in Shelton and one in Burslem. Stoke-on-Trent college is part of UniQ, the university quarter. A collaborative project with Staffordshire University and the Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College. Education The college runs a range of courses, from basic English and Maths to foundation degree courses. The college has the largest number of higher education students of any college in North Staffordshire. It opened its new building on Leek Road in September 2010 having previously been located on Victoria Road, Fenton. St Joseph's College is a mixed grammar school located in Trent Vale, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. The school's oldest and original building in this location is a Grade II listed structure which was previously a residential property before it was bought by the Christian Brothers in 1931. History The school was founded by the Christian Brothers in 1932. It moved into the present buildings in 1936, and was recognised by the Board of Education in the following year. St Joseph's was a direct grant grammar school until the 11-plus was abolished in Stoke in 1967, after which the grant was gradually phased out. The school re-opened as a fully independent school in 1980, and in the following years began to admit girls. Thistley Hough Academy
Thistley Hough Academy is a coeducational secondary school located in the village of Penkhull in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. The school was built in 1938 as a girls' grammar school, housed in a classical Art Deco building. The old building has since been demolished and a new £15,000,000 school has been constructed. St Thomas More Catholic Academy is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the Longton area of Stoke-on-Trent in the English county of Staffordshire. The school is named after Saint Thomas More, a sixteenth century elder statesman who was martyred for his refusal to accept King Henry VIII's claim to be the supreme head of the church.
