St Conor's College
St Conor's College is a Secondary education, secondary school located in Northern Ireland. It has two sites. The main site is in the village of Clady, County Londonderry, Clady and a junior site is located in Kilrea. The school opened in September 2018. It is within the Education Authority, Education Authority (North Eastern) region. History The college was formed in 2018 through the amalgamation of St Mary's College, Clady and St. Paul's College, Kilrea. Academics The college offers the full range of subjects at Key Stage 3 and 4 and at GCSE A-Level. With the arrival of the children of Polish immigrants the college provides after school classes in Polish and the students can take a GCSE in Polish. There is also a Polish Cultural Week. Sports Students have the opportunity of participating in a wide range of sporting activities including Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, soccer, athletics, swimming, netball, basketball, and gymnastics. The Education Authority ( ga, Údarás Oideachais) is a non-departmental body sponsored by the Department of Education in Northern Ireland. It was established under the Education Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 (c. 12) which was passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly. The authority became operational on 1 April 2015. Portglenone (from ga, Port Chluain Eoghain , meaning 'landing place of Eoghan's meadow') is a village and civil parish in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It lies 8.5 miles (14 km) west of Ballymena. Kilrea ( , ) is a village, townland and civil parish in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It gets its name from the ancient church that was located near to where the current Church of Ireland is located on Church Street looking over the town. It is near the River Bann, which marks the boundary between County Londonderry and County Antrim. In the 2011 Census it had a population of 1,678 people. It is situated within Causeway Coast and Glens district. History There is a tradition that St Patrick visited the area during the fifth century, a story repeated recently in the book 'The Fairy Thorn' produced by Kilrea local historians.
