St Clears A.F.C. are a Welsh football club from the town of St Clears, Carmarthenshire in the South West Wales, southwest of Wales. They currently play in the Pembrokeshire League Division Three. History The present club was reformed in 1965 and entered the Pembrokeshire League. They won the third division championship in their first season before winning the second division in their second season. They followed this up with a third back-to-back championship in 1967–68 becoming Division One champions for the first, and only time to date. St Clears
St Clears ( ; cy, Sanclêr) on the River Tâf in Carmarthenshire, Wales, is both a small town and a community. At the 2011 census, the population was 2,995. The community includes the small settlements of Bancyfelin and Pwlltrap. It is bordered by the Carmarthenshire communities of, Meidrim, Newchurch and Merthyr, Llangynog, Laugharne Township, Llanddowror, Eglwyscummin, Llanboidy and Llangynin. History The Priory Church of St Mary Magdalene (Church in Wales) is a grade II* listed building and was founded ; a Cluniac priory of St Martin-des-Champs. It is considered to have the best surviving Norman stone carving in Carmarthenshire. The church was restored in 1853-55 and again in 1883–84. The stained glass is from . Carmarthenshire ( cy, Sir Gaerfyrddin; or informally ') is a county in the south-west of Wales. The three largest towns are Llanelli, Carmarthen and Ammanford. The Pembrokeshire League (currently the ''Manderwood Pembrokeshire League'') is a football league in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, running from levels five to nine of the Welsh football league system. Teams promoted from Division One may enter the West Wales Premier League if standards and facilities fall into line with the regulations of the Welsh Football League. The Pembrokeshire League also enters teams into the West Wales Intermediate Cup, to play against clubs from the Carmarthenshire League, Neath & District League and Swansea Senior League. Mond Cup
The Mond Cup is a cup competition in Welsh football organised by the West Wales Football Association. History The competition was established in 1923 and is considered to be one of the oldest domestic cup competition for Welsh football clubs, after the more well known and prestigious Welsh Cup. Unlike the Welsh Cup, where 135 teams entered in 2008–09, the competition is only open to the members of the West Wales Football Association. It was named after Sir Alfred Mond who is believed to have funded the establishment of the competition. Format The format has changes many times over the years. From XXXX to 2008–09 the cup was a straight knockout competition. From 2009–10 to 2012–13 the competition consisted of four groups with the winners then making the semi-finals.
