St Benedict's Chapel, Sumvitg
The Chapel of Saint Benedict ( rm, Caplutta Sogn Benedetg; german: Kapelle des Heiligen Benedikt) is a Roman Catholicism, Roman Catholic church located in Sumvitg, Surselva Region, Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. After a 1984 avalanche destroyed a Baroque chapel on the same site, the Disentis Abbey decided to build a new chapel. Architect Peter Zumthor won the architectural competition for the project. The new chapel was built between 1985 and 1989 for a total cost of Swiss franc, CHF 600,000. Jürg Buchli and Jürg Conzett were the engineers. Sogn is a Districts of Norway, traditional district in Western Norway ''(Vestlandet)''. It is located in the Counties of Norway, county of Vestland, surrounding the Sognefjorden, Sognefjord, the largest/longest fjord in Norway. The district of Sogn consists of the List of municipalities of Norway, municipalities of Aurland, Balestrand, Hyllestad, Høyanger, Gulen, Leikanger, Luster, Norway, Luster, Lærdal, Sogndal, Solund, Vik, and Årdal. The district covers and contains about 35% of the county's population. The largest urban area in Sogn is the village of Sogndalsfjøra (in Sogndal municipality), with 3,455 residents. The second largest urban area is the village Øvre Årdal (in Årdal municipality), with 3,397 people (this village used to be the largest, but recently it was passed by Sogndalsfjøra).
