Bowral
Bowral () is the largest town in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, about ninety minutes southwest of Sydney. It is the main business and entertainment precinct of the Wingecarribee Shire and Highlands. St Andrews Uniting Church is a heritage-listed church at 131 Creek Street (corner with Ann Street), Brisbane CBD, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by George David Payne and built in 1905 by Alexander Lind & Son. Initially St Andrews Presbyterian Church, it became part of the Uniting Church following the merger of the Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregational Churches in 1977. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History St Andrews Church was constructed in 1905 for the local parish of the Presbyterian Church previously located on land now used as part of Brisbane Central Railway Station. St Andrew's Presbyterian Church is a heritage-listed former Presbyterian church at Ipswich Street, Esk, Somerset Region, Queensland, Australia. The former church was built from 1876 to 1929, and it was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 11 June 2003. Following the 1977 Basis of Union that formed the Uniting Church, the congregation remained affiliated with the Continuing Presbyterian Church who closed the Esk church in and sold the former church building in May 2023. History The former St Andrew's Presbyterian Church is a simple timber building located on the south bank of Sandy Creek and was built in 1876 on the first site of the new settlement at Esk. St Andrew's Presbyterian Church is a heritage-listed former Presbyterian church at 280 Bolsover Street, in the central business district of Rockhampton, Rockhampton Region, Queensland, Australia. The former church was designed by Voller & Graham in the Gothic Revival style and built from 1893 to 1926. The former church was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. In October 2002 the former church was closed on the basis of concerns around the structural integrity of the building. The congregation relocated to the site of the former Rockhampton cinema building, and became known as the Rockhampton Presbyterian Church. St Andrew's Presbyterian Church is a Presbyterian church at 32 Moon Street, Wingham, New South Wales, Australia. Together with St Thomas' Presbyterian Church, Krambach, the St Andrew's congregation forms part of the Wingham and Upper Manning Parish. St Andrew's is located on a triangular block formed by Moon Street, Gloucester Road, and Fotheringham Street in Wingham. St. Andrew's is towards the apex at the corner of Moon Street and Gloucester Road. The manse is located at the Fotheringham Street end of the block, however the manse is not the home of the current minister. Church building The church building is a yellow brick building from the 1970s and replaced the original wooden church built in 1856 in Canget Street, one block east of the Wingham Memorial Hall. St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church was a prominent church in Dunedin, New Zealand. Designed by pre-eminent Dunedin Robert Lawson it was constructed in 1870 to serve a rapidly developing area of the city which became notorious for its slum housing, poverty and crime which led to it being referred to as the “Devil’s Half-Acre” from 1873 onwards. The church is best known for its long time crusading minister the Reverend Rutherford Waddell. Waddell’s ‘Sin of Cheapness’ sermon which was a landmark in New Zealand’s social and labour history was delivered from its pulpit. It eventually closed as a place of Presbyterian worship in 1978 and after briefly serving as a place of worship for the Word of Life Pentecostal Church it was purchased by the Coptic Orthodox Church in 2000, who renamed it the Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church.
