St. Peter's College, Dunboyne
St. Peter's College is a 12–19 mixed secondary school in Dunboyne, County Meath, Ireland. History The process of providing a school for Dunboyne began in earnest in September 1992 when the Parent Teacher Association of Dunboyne National School called a public meeting to ascertain the need for post primary education in the area. The early months were not without controversy, particularly in relation to the proposed management structures and trustees of the school. However the subsequent agreement reached between Co. Meath Vocational Education Committee (VEC) and the Bishop of Meath resulted in the school being built. Since then, the VEC has been abolished and was replaced by Louth and Meath Education and Training Board. St. Peter's College opened in September 1996 with an enrolment of 75 first-year students. Dunboyne
Dunboyne () is a town in Meath, Ireland. It is a commuter town for Dublin. In the 20 years between the 1996 and 2016 censuses, the population of Dunboyne more than doubled from 3,080 to 7,272 inhabitants. Location Dunboyne is centred on the crossroads formed by the R156 regional road and the old Maynooth Road (formerly designated R157). County Meath (; gle, Contae na Mí or simply ) is a county in the Eastern and Midland Region of Ireland, within the province of Leinster. Vocational Education Committee
A Vocational Education Committee (VEC) ( ga, Coiste Gairmoideachais) was a statutory local education body in Ireland that administered some secondary education, most adult education and a very small amount of primary education in the state. Before 1992 VECs had authority over the Dublin Institute of Technology and the Regional Technical Colleges. They existed from 1930 to 2013, when they were replaced by Education and Training Boards. Establishment VECs were originally created by the Vocational Education Act 1930, as successors to the Technical Instruction Committees established by the Agriculture and Technical Instruction (Ireland) Act 1899. Michael Smith KC*HS (born 6 June 1940) is the retired Roman Catholic Bishop of Meath, Ireland. He was ordained priest in the Papal Archbasilica of St. John Lateran on 9 March 1963 by Cardinal Traglia, Cardinal-Bishop of Albano. Darren John Sutherland (18 April 1982 – 14 September 2009) was an Irish professional boxer from Mulhuddart, Dublin. His amateur career was crowned by a 2008 Olympic bronze medal.
