St. Mary's School, Yala
St. Mary’s School Yala is a Roman Catholic primary and secondary school for boys located on the Kisumu-Busia highway in Yala Township in the Nyanza Province of Western Kenya. Founded in 1927 by the Mill Hill missionaries notably Msgr. Brandsma who wanted to start a teacher's college for catholic schools, the school opened its doors in 1927 making it one of the oldest schools in Kenya. The school eventually evolved to become a full primary school and junior secondary school that expanded to become the current St. Mary’s Yala. Approximately 2000 students attend the school each year and has a teaching staff of 40. The school follows the Kenyan 8-4-4 education system. Yala Township
Yala sub county is one of the administrative units of Siaya County, western Kenya. It is located 42 kilometres northwest of Kisumu, Kenya's third largest city. In 2009, it had a population of 25,769 and Yala town had a population of 2,438. Yala is served by a railway station, the Kisumu-Busia highway, Ndanu water treatment works, a jaggery (formerly Yala White Sugar Company) and Odera Akang'o campus, a constituent college of Maseno university. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net.
