St. Louis Slam
The St. Louis Slam is a women's professional American football team based in St. Louis, Missouri. They play in the Pro Division of the Women's Football Alliance (WFA). Home games are played at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium on the campus of Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. The team is coached by Quincy Davis. The Slam played in the National Women's Football Association from their inception in 2003 until 2008. In 2009 they joined WFA. On August 15, 2009, the Slam won the first Women's Football Alliance league championship game, defeating the West Michigan Mayhem 21–14 at Pan American Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana. They won three more championships while competing in Division 2 of the WFA (2016, 2017, 2019). In 2021, they elevated to the Pro Division of the WFA — the most competitive field of teams in the sport women's football. Women's Football Alliance
The Women's Football Alliance (WFA) is a professional full-contact Women's American football tackle minor league that began play in 2009. It is the largest 11-on-11 football league for women in the world, and the longest running active women's football league in the U.S. Since 2016, the league has operated with three competitive levels: Pro, Division 2 and Division 3. The league is owned and operated by Jeff King and Lisa Gibbons King of Exeter, California. Lisa King is also a wide receiver for the WFA's, Los Angeles Warriors. In addition to operating annual national championship seasons in the United States, the league also operates the WFA International Program which organizes international competitions for its own Team United and Team World against each other and all-star teams from other nations. Dallas Elite
The Dallas Elite Women's Football team is an American women's tackle football team playing in Division I of the Women's Football Alliance (WFA). The team, based in and around Dallas, Texas, was founded in 2014. The Dallas Elite reached the playoffs and national championship game three years in a row, 2015–2017. They defeated the Boston Renegades 31–21 at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 22, 2017, to win the WFA Division I National Championship. Although they missed the playoffs in 2018 and 2019 (and the 2020 season was cancelled due to the global pandemic), the team earned a playoff berth in 2021. The Dayton Diamonds are a charter member of the Women's Football Alliance which began play in 2008. Cincinnati Sizzle
The Cincinnati Sizzle is a women's professional full-contact/tackle football team from Cincinnati, Ohio. The team was established in 2003, by former Cincinnati Bengals running back Ickey Woods. Steve Sherman is the current owner of the Cincinnati Sizzle, as of the 2018 season, with Michelle Terrell continues in her 15th year as general manager. The regular season spans from April to July. Currently the home games are played at Walnut Hills High School (Cincinnati). The Sizzle played in the National Women's Football Association (NWFA) for 4 seasons 2005 to 2008. The Iowa Thunder was a women's professional American football team based in Des Moines, Iowa. They played in the Women's Spring Football League. During its first two seasons, the Thunder was a member of the Women's Football Alliance History In their Inaugural season, the Thunder became the first team in Iowa history to have a winning record at 5-3 and followed that up in 2010 with a 6-2 campaign that left them tied for 1st in the division (although they lost the tiebreaker to the Minnesota Machine based on head-to-head points total) and the first ever team to garner a playoff berth. The Minnesota Machine was a women's tackle football team of the Women's Football Alliance (WFA) from 2009 to 2017. The team was started by Lisa Olson on December 8, 2008, after stints with the Indiana Speed and Minnesota Vixen, and began play in the WFA's inaugural 2009 season. The Kansas City Storm is a women's tackle football team based in Kansas City. The Storm was founded in 2004 and has been serving Kansas City area women since then with a mission to "provide a safe, positive and fun opportunity for women in Kansas City and surrounding areas to play tackle football."
