Montserrat ( , ) is a British Overseas Territories, British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is part of the Leeward Islands, the northern portion of the Lesser Antilles chain of the West Indies. Montserrat is about long and wide, with roughly of coastline. It is nicknamed "The Emerald Isle of the Caribbean" both for its resemblance to coastal Ireland and for the Irish diaspora, Irish ancestry of many of its inhabitants. Saint Peter is one of Montserrat's three administrative parishes. , it is the only parish to be inhabited. This would give the parish a population of between 4,000 and 6,000.
